Got a card from Royal Mail saying that someone has sent me a parcel and not paid enough postage, so I would have to pay the 47p + £1 handling fee, I took the card to postoffice even though I dying with flu and bought the £1.47 in stamps and posted back, so they could forward me my mail ( probably junk)
Then today the CARD came back through my door, I cant beleive the stamps I bought where attached and they just sent it back!!!!
I phoned Royal Mail and got the Reply-- Oh Well its just a mistake and I would have to post it back again!!!!!! I explained that I am ill and they just insisted that I would not get my mail until I posted it back again!!! And they charged me a £1 handling fee for this. what about my handling fee and the Envelope I have to buy to post it back in, and the inconveinence. Sorry but am so angry !

Surely without being rude it's your fault in the first place for not sending the parcel correctly? Or am I wrong?

Youre wrong, it was a parcel sent to the op and postage wasnt coverage properly

You'd think they'd have something in place where you can just pay online or something rather than buying stamps etc, seems daft.
#5
Hate royal mail..they are conning you know whats...you can pay postage on line then they will then send parcel to you save you going out?

I thought they did... last time I got a card for someone not paying enough postage there was an option to pay online.

I'm confused why didn't they hand it over there and then or did you go the post office not the sorting office?:?
#11
Yes I tried online but it would not recognise that I had a fee to pay, It would of been easier

That's why I read it as you posting.

Wouldn't deal with them anywhere but the sorting office, most of the staff in the post office are impatient and peeved at the royal mail. Online thats another business entirely.:whistling:

Ahh thought you could call them in this situation to say you would pay on arrival? Maybe wrong.

Either way would be getting the money back off whoever it was.

this happened to me a cpl of years ago, and i was infuriated because RM charged me because the envelope was a small square one not of uniform size, i had to pay 38p plus £1 handling, later found out that it was down to the depot whether they enforced these irregular charges or not, xmas parties comin up for the staff if you ask me, before i get slated by any posties let me say, our service is first class as i have had to endure the U.S.Mail (diabolical) spainish mail ( laughable)
#16
Are service is terrible, never have the same posty and always getting the wrong mail, Nothing against the postys they do a great job its the people at the top that arent getting things organised properly.

We sent out some save the date magnets for our wedding Got them weighed etc at Post office told us a 1st class stamp would be plenty...did this and then find out that most people got a card saying they had to pay 8p potage plus the £1 handling!!!...Not happy made us look cheap and stupid!

i once got a card saying there was a letter which didnt have enough postage on it so had to pay the charge and handling fee. when i got to the sorting office it turned out it was one of my payslips i had sent to the council! god knows how it ended up there. it wasnt in an envelope just open with all my details for the world to see. as you can imagine i wasnt happy. the woman at the sorting office gave me my payslip and said it didnt matter about the charges. i rang the council to complain and i got no apology and a load of bull about how it couldnt have gone missing from their offices and blah blah blah

Some things it's easier to weigh them yourself, gawd knows why they would tell you it was ordinary 1st class when it would need to be large letter.

Right..

Firstly, its important to understand exactly what happened here.
The items you sent out were not classed as ordinary letters.
As a result, they should have been sent as Large Letters.
RM do not monitor all the mail (millions of items in the postal network at any given time), that is why some of the one's you sent out were delivered without a problem.

As for a refund, the only people you can hold responible for this are the people you advised you. So, if this was the post office, then its post office customer services you need to speak to (not royal mail customer services). You need to tell them that you were advised incorrectly.
What PO customer services will do, I am not sure.
If they try telling you its a royal mail issue - well it isnt, as they just process the mail.

Try option 2....... You'll probably then get a receptionist. Just ask for "the chairman's office"
