First of all you need to refund her regardless, its not her fault that it has been lost unless you offered another postage service at the time i.e recorded.

To claim you will need to go into a post office and get this form, fill it in etc. or i think you can print it oft.

ask in your post office? or call them

Also how do you know it's not been received?
did you get a signature on receipt?
even though it costs more (an extra 70p) I alsays get this now having been ripped off several times due to people "saying" it hadnt been received.

Unfortunately if it wasnt sent recorded then you cannot prove it hasnt been delivered.

does that mean i cant claim ?

Firstly, you need a form to fill in.
2) you need the proof of posting - imperative
3) you need a receipt to prove the value of the item you sent out (a purchase reciept)
4) wait about 4-8 weeks and pray...........

have you got a proof of posting/receipt? then just ask at your post office for a claim form (which for will depend on how you sent it but they'll know), fill it in and send it to them.
in my experience they are rather slow with processing claims but usually refund (beware that unless you paid for extra insurance the maximum you can claim for including postage is the price of 100 1st class stamps). if it's an ebay item you will need to attach a copy of the auction.

have u claimed before ? its sounding like its not worth the agro by the time i print my paypal thing off and i print a copy of proof off and all the bother posting it, might be just easier sending the buyer the refund and leaving it at that :x so annoying when ive gone to the effort of packing it up and going to po to post it for it not to turn up

yes deffo send it in, have you not got the reciept for the item you sent, that would be easier, if not print off your paypal payment and push for the postage costs too, why should you have to pay for a service that wasnt provided, good luck

Make a photocopy of the receipt before you send it. If they offer a book of stamps they WILL NOT return the receipt and will swear they have lost it!!

Why should she refund her before Royal Mail compensate? It is technically neither fault as it is third party (Royal Mail) who are at fault and will ultimately refund any monies due.

and make sure you send the claim via recorded delivery

I claimed once and they lost the claim form. result was that there was nothing they can do.

I agree - I would not refund until RM had paid out as RM usually send a form to the recipient that they must fill out to declare it never arrived. Once refunded, the receipient might not bother.

unless it was a trusted member with good feedback of course.
