royal mail - not delivered item! advice please!

ordered a poloshirt off ebay on sunday. despatched on monday and everyone raved about the delivery being so fast (superdry ebay store). emailed them for a tracking number today, got it, and according to royal mail
We have a record of item XXXXXXXXXXXGB as being delivered from Ashbourne DO on 2010-02-10.
Someone has been in my house all week, no card through the door or anything. never rang the doorbell. i was in personally on wednesday, hoping for it to be delivered. nothing. what should i do? contact royal mail sorting off and delivery office (on monday) or the ebaystore?

It should be at the sorting office, check round your garden maybe?

been outside and round the garden enough - my parents were outside in the garden today with the buliders who are building our conservatory. my dads also waiting for some door handles for some cupboards. maybe they've got an embargo on our house for parcels...

Speak to your local royal mail sorting office first, if they say they have nothing then contact the ebay store.

really not impressed. i had a number of other things i was keeping an eye on and would have bought if this fitted (and others if this didnt) yet they've now been sold! bloody hell. ruined my day and now dont feel like going to sleep.

Thieving postman by the sounds. (Though it could be a stupid postman who mis-delivered!)

I had a letter arrive today in a see through plastic sleeve, which said simply that "unfortunately a letter in our car has been damaged" signed royal mail.

The letter in question was a disability living allowance for my eldest son and quite obviously the thieving postman hoped their would be a cheque in the envelope. It had tears in in and it was clear it had been screwed up and discarded.

I need to find out how and where this letter was discovered. But its just one further example of dishonesty in the royal mail that seems prevalent these days.

I think you should contact the seller i.e Superdry as they should be able to use the tracking number and view the signature when the parcel was delivered. I sent an ink cartridge via royal mail and the buyer said they had not received it. I used the tracking code on royal mail website and got a copy of the signature which I emailed through and they found the person who signed ...think it was the receptionist

My postman can't read...........or i'm assuming he can't. The other possible reason is he is thick and likes delivering half my streets letters to me. lol

..this thread reminds me- must watch that panorama undercover thingie abt royal mail that came on last week..

if recorded, they'll have a signature on their 'card' thing, but i guess anyone can sign it as 'micky mouse' or whatever..so unsure who to point finger at. what a peculiar case.

nothing to do with conservatoyr builders, hey op?

have a look at the online prrof of delivery if its available should show who's sgined for it.

guv thats like me, i received a money for gold envelope to send off gold and the letter it came in had been slit down one edge, looking for a cheque iu guess or for something to fall out.

Someone once sent me a Freddo Frog chocolate bar in the post. Envelope arrived having been "resealed" by Royal Mail as it had apparently come open during transit.

The opened Freddo Frog wrapper was in the envelope, but the Freddo chocolate bar had mysteriously disappeared. Couldn't believe that someone would eat the chocolate bar and then actually go to the trouble of delivering an empty wrapper!

Guv that is shocking.

Tell me about it.

Ive had nothing but problems with my local sorting office for the past 15 years, with my mail getting delivered to another road and me getting their mail. (Our roads are not remotely similar, though our door numbers are the same. It happens for some reason to 5 houses next to mine - purely because there is an A or B in the number.) (Huge houses replaces by less huge ones!)

But this has really taken the biscuit and needless to say I will be having angry words on Monday. It makes me wonder if they found it in the sorting office bin or maybe at someone's house!. Hopefully they will be able to explain to me, 'cos if they refuse, I will be calling the police. On second thoughts, they couldn't even be bothered to pick up CCC footage when my missus had her purse stolen from Sainsbury over Xmas.

It was dated 4th Feb, so it s a recent "capture". It has a big tear in one corner where they had clearly ripped open one corner or the envelope.

nah. conservatory builders came today just to take measurements, havent started work yet and have only been to our house once before and that was a couple of weeks ago. besides my parents were with them, and my dad has been checking for his door handles which havent come yet. will be fuming if i dont get this as i spent ages going through the ebay store finding one in my size new in perfect condition :x

i've sent a message to the ebaystore, telling them i havent received it and that i will be contacting my sorting office on monday, just keeping them in the loop.

Hey, that's nothing.

When I went to live in Oz and after buying too much clobber in Thailand, I realised I was going to get into bother with the airline for my luggage being overweight. So I decided to air freight a suitcase over to Sydney from Bangkok.

The case was brand new, but when I picked it up, it looked a little worse for wear. It didnt even occur to me at the time of picking it up, but all corners had 3" masking tape all around it. It wasnt until I got to my flat, that I realised someone had taken a stanley knife to the case like a tin opener. Because I didnt complain when I picked it up (and I would have if I'd realised), there was nothing that could be done. But hey, there is no way the boogers didnt know this had happened and obviously no one felt guilty enough to tell me.

So even dla forms are not safe, nasty. I would be having "words" too if that was my sons paperwork, not only that I wouldn't want any old crook seeing his medical notes.

So glad I have a great village postie and office here but where I moved from a year ago was a mare, missing mail, neighbours stuff, etc.

The "round" i live on, is always getting a different postman almost on a weekly basis. A mate of mine works in this office and he said no one wants this round because its the biggest (ie takes the longest.)

I've spoken to the Royal Mail "Executive office" so many times, they speak to me on first name basis! (The local post office however call me Victor Mildrew - seriously!) I don't believe it! - And no...... I'm not that old!

just to ad ive always had a decent service round here but 2 days ago i heard a rummaging in the letterbox, so i got up had a look and there was only a lettre on the floor ...sounded more than that so opened the door and there was a 2nd class package oin the floor ....i checked and it wouldnt quite fit thru letterbox so the twit dropped it on the ground!!!!! i seen him in the car park and shouted "EXCUSE ME" he ignored me so i shouted "OI YOU EFFING TWIT WHAT U DOING THROWING ME BLOOODY POST ON THE FLOOR?".......again he ignored me........was well anoyed so i thru some clothes on got the camera and went and took picture of him....he almost started crying saying he was only human and why i take picture of him....he said "show him where he thru package in the floor" i screamed at him for a while then went back home and went back to sleep

op the information shown on the tracking just means it is at the sorting office still, i doubt it has been delivered yet (for what ever reason).

Just be patient, first class delivery means nothing, it doesn't guarantee next delivery and can still take up to 14 days. At the moment u cannot do anything, u have to wait up to 28 days for delivery before u can file in a missing package with the post office.

No points ranting about how crappy the delivery man is or how poor royal mail is.. it's just them. They probably have a lot of ****** valentines post going on causing delays all round.

Good luck matey, but tbh u'll probably get your package early next week

Ashbourne DO - This is the delivery office if you live in Ashbourne area. It means they have it there, and will no doubt deliver it to you on Monday. If it hasn't arrived Monday then contact Royal Mail.

To be honest, I think it's more an example of you being incredibly distrustful and paranoid.

If they still have it at the delivery office, then why do they have a record of it being DELIVERED from the delivery office?

Not really. I speak as I find. I make judgement based on personal experience. What's your excuse?

I do suspect your personal experience to be rather clouded by the usual poor judgement that the paranoid suffer from, though. It's part of the nature of being paranoid, really. I guess to be fair though, it'd be unfair to dismiss your rantings as those of a paranoid delusional without seeing any hard evidence first. Did you take photos of the envelope?

And just out of curiosity, how often do you have issues with the Royal Mail like these? And do you live in a rough area?

Who sends cash in a valentines card? Me suspects the paranoid irrationality strikes again.

Did I take photo's of what envelope? Can you not read? The envelop the letter started off with, never arrived. Instead, the letter came in a printed plastic bag stating "sorry we've damaged the item in our care". I still have this. I assume your remarks are suggesting I'm lying. I do however still have the printed plastic bag. Obviously a regular event else they'd have no need to have them printed.

As for the attempted put down regarding Paranoia, it's probably wise for to invest in a dictionary, as it's obvious to me you don't understand the meaning. I deal with facts - yet strangely you see fit to challenge something you have zero knowledge about. Are you a postman?

And just out of curiosity, how often do you have issues with the Royal Mail like these? And do you live in a rough area?

I really do suggest before you post, you at least time the time and trouble to read. I've lived at my address for 15 years. All of the houses nearby suffer with the same problem of missed deliveries. Whilst the complaints have seen an improvement to this problem, and numerous disciplinary proceedings that have taken place. It does still happen. In bad weeks, I could end up with 10 or 12 letters with messages "please deliver to the correct address" written on them.

And, no, I don't live in a rough area. But if I did, do you think that entitles the postman to be a thief? Or was that another of your pathetic attempts at a put down?

Postman aren't that bright. haven't you worked that out yet?

A card is a prime target for being opened. FACT.

BTW... here is 256,000 examples of "Paranoia"

Hope that helps.

waited for post delivery today. no parcel.

rang up sorting office, gave the lady the tracking code. to begin with she said that the code didnt exist. after abit of convincing she realised it did, and she informed me the records show it was delivered on wednesday. she has checked and they dont have it there. she is now trying to find out who made the 'delivery' on wednesday so now waiting for the call back. sounds to me like the postman got a little greedy. cant believe my neighbours would not have given it me since wednesday as i've seen them countless times since and get on fine (and the otherside has been away on hols!)

Check to see if the postman is wearing a Polo shirt. (Seriously)

I rang the "Chairmans Office" again this morning and spoke to someone Ive had numerous times before. She did try to offer up the excuse that envelopes being lost, sometimes happens when it goes through the sorting machine, but lost that arguement when she mentioned a straight edged cut. (My letter was torn in the top corner - about the place you would rip open an envelope in a hurry!

its a joke.

i would have spoken to the postman personally today, except i've never seen this bloke before, and he definitely wasnt doing the rounds last week, so i didnt feel i could have a rant at him...
i wouldnt care so much if it was something that i ordered off amazon or something where they could send out another, but the one time it happens is when i cant order another one! :x

0207 250 2888 is the number to call and register your dissatisfaction. Select option 2, then option 1 (I think)

You will get an operator, but ask to speak to the "chairmans office" regarding on ongoing problem, otherwise you will just get the CS department and a fob off (which you've had already.)

Good luck.

i tell you what, its taking them along time to look on the shift list to see who was working our round, and then give them a call! not impressed. does that really take over an hour? me thinks not!

Had a similar thing happen to me when I sold something on eBay.

Sold an item and sent it out via RM Special Delivery, I tracked it the next day and it had been signed for and delivered. A week or so later the buyer claimed they had not received it, so I provided them with the tracking number and said that it had been delivered and signed for. The buyer then came back to me claiming that it had not been delivered and that they did not recognise the signature.

After weeks of talking with RM I was told that as far as they were concerned, the item had been delivered so they would not compensate me. I also spoke to eBay and informed them of the situation and they said that if the tracking number said it had been delivered, as far as they were concerned that was it. However a week later eBay made me refund the buyer so I not only lost my item but I had to refund them (including postage) too!

Never found out what happened, either some thieving postie nicked it or the buyers were lying and had the item. What makes the whole situation more suspicious is that the signature that could be viewed on the RM website, vanished a few days later and instead of a signature it came up blank (all other details there but no signature) which makes me think RM had something to do with it!

You should NOT have just left it as this. They are resposible for not only delivering to the correct address but to the correct person. The fact this person has claimed non receipt, they would need to prove to me they delivered it.

Shame you didnt have the number I listed above. It wouldnt have been dropped. (If its not that long ago.... still give it a bash!)

Thats good to hear. Give that number a call and register the problem with the chairmans office. You have compensation which they are denying and they have failed to speak to the people at the address to verify the facts. Nothing like getting your teeth into something!
