hello everyone, i have been waiting for two parcels to be delivered this month , anyway get home today and the neighbour knocks on the door with two parcels says the postman deliverd them today (sunday), ones dated 07th the other 14th, she says they must be a backlog at the post office, this woman does not like me and my family and her husband works at the post office, i think this smells abit fishy what do you think????? also the parcel post dated on the 7th i had to ring the guy and he sent me it again and i got that on wednesday so now i have two what do you think i should do???

It is against the law to tamper with or delay any item of mail.

Check with the sorting office if they did or do deliver on a Sunday. Bottom line your neighbour has taken in and alerted you to the fact she has parcels for you. Royal Mail should have left a card to this effect so that you would have known to call round to collect.
#2
It wouldn't have been delivered today, deliveries aren't made on Sunday.
Regarding the duplicate item, I would say contact the person who sent it, and ask them what they want you to do.
#3
Well phone the local sorting office and enquire?? Then if they say it wasnt delivered today (which i suspect) then make a complaint and ask for them not to leave it with her again. State about the husband working for them etc. Has the parcels been tampered with?? I suppose at least she did give them. Where they not recorded so you could check when they were delivered?
#4
Royal mail should leave a card regardless, and if the neighbour hated you that much you never would have got them.

Maybe its a different rule with parcels?
#10
Is it definitely Royal Mail? They don't deliver on Sundays but Parcel Line and those types of companies that just deliver parcels for companies and such do deliver on a Sunday.
#11
yes def royal mail
#12
Very strange, they wouldn't have delivered anythin today and anyway one sent from the 7th and one from the 14th wouldn't take this long and turn up on the same day. Back log would be unlikely even at peak times like Christmas you wouldn't expect a three week wait from the day it gets stamped. Just make sure everythings there, worth ringing Royal Mail and asking if it could have been this if not explain about the husband working there and you're a little suspicious, they'll look into it for you.
#13
thanks mate def suspicious because i got the second parcel he sent on wednesday would of thought if there was a backlog i would have had that after
#14
A very good point. Just give Royal Mail a point and tell them whats happened and you're a little concerned because there was no card left by the postman saying the stuff was left with a neighbour and about the situation.
#15
Maybe you did something to her monkey?
#16
will do maybe its just me being paranoid and its nothing, but i didnt think they delivered on a sunday but someone on here said they do, but i have never had a parcel from royal mail on a sunday before
#17
sent the guy a email saying i will post back his parcel what he sent again, only decent thing to do, meens i will be out off pocket on the postage but it was good of him to send again

Hi new to forum just thought if you go to Royal Mail website do the track and trace on the recorded item it will tell you when your neighbour signed for it mystery solved hopefully.
Cheers love the forum

Since when do Royal Mail deliver on Sundays?

OP Are you sure they were delivered today or Saturday?
#20
she said def delivered today even said it was at 2 o clock, did a track and trace but it said it didnt have any info at this time

Royal mail defo do not deliver on Sundays with the exception of Christmas and recently have been allowed to stop Sunday collections. This is rather fishy and I would go straight to the local delivery points manager.

If you sent a parcel it should be with the receiver within 3-5 working days if not sent 1st class or special delivery. This should also be reported to the police.........if you feel your neighbours have genuinely been holding onto this. A crime number will aid any compensation claim.

You can go to the Royal Mail website and set up a request that any mail that can't be delivered be redirected to a specific address. This should help for future parcels. :)

RM can deliver on a sunday with the packets this however is mostly just used for Xmas time. and only if need very much be and normally only in sorting offices's which cover a large area.. ( or Student areas good love em )

for them to be doing it this time of the year is strange.. but if they have a sortage of drivers during the week it is possible i would guess.

It's a weird situation - the neighbour if intending any malice could/should have refused the parcel. Can't see the neighbour getting into any trouble, they sent on the mail at the earliest opportunity, perhaps even forgot about it.

Storm in a teacup, simply inform RM that you want all deliveries to be direct to you, or leave a card if appropriate.

It doesn't cost anything to return an unopened package - just scribble your address out and write "Return to sender" on it.

thanks didnt know that but wont he have to pay??

I am bit concerned. Your neighbour did give you the parcels so she wasn't going to keep them. Her husband works at Royal Mail and this enquiry may cause him some grief at work. I have taken parcels in for neighbours and because of a combination of forgefulness and because I was out or the neighbour was out we never met for days.

Are you sure about this? If you send an item back as undelivered, I thought it wont get charged again
#29
It is not an official delivery but if they found two old parcels undelivered kicking around the sorting room I can imagine them sending someone out with them.

As said, if your neighbour was up to something it would have been much easier to just dump the parcels.

but it has been delivered so a charge will apply.
#31
I don't know what the rules are. I have had letters back "not known at this address" and not been charged. Not sure how parcels would work.

i wil end the confusion 100%, as someone already said...you can return a package UNOPENED for free , if its opened its THEN classed as being delivered and will be charged, otherwise its a return to sender and will go back free.

You've not really ended the confusion, just highlighted your opinion. However if you can quote a reputable source, then the facts can be determined
