ROYAL MAIL PARCEL RECIEVED WITH BLANK WHITE PAPER! HELP!!!

Hi Everyone,

I have a major problem. I paid someone for some phones through PayPal (£2,000) and have dealt with the person before without any issues.

Yesterday I received my parcel via special next day delivery and all it had was blank white paper in it.

It looks as though the box has been tampered with as there was clear Celotape on top of brown tape, which is a very unusual way to pack a box.

I am unable to get in touch with the seller, but suspect this was done by Royal Mail rather than the sender. What can I do??

Thanks

did you sign for the package??

soz just read it was special delivery, why dont you ring paypal and tell them?

Could have been error on behalf of the seller - I had placed an order with La Redoute once and got an empty bag with an invoice in it - nothing else. Had to phone and explain and was told the item was out of stock. Why they sent me an empty bag I don't know! Waste of money on their part. Try checking again with the seller as you'll have a hard time proving it was Royal Mail.

if youve signed for it,doubt you can do anything

I wouldn't have recieved such high value goods without them being insured properly. I hope he added the extra insurance option as you can only claim up to £500 back on standard special delivery. I also would have opened it in front of the postie if the box had looked tampered with.

You've been scammed, not much you can do if you signed for it.

Who would give £2000 to someone and not have any contact details!! :w00t:

If it is signed for then it will have been weighed at the PO for the cost, this weight will then be logged somewhere. If the weight is low then it proves they sent you nothing.

if parcel was damaged postoffice would of sealed in an new bag and placed label on stating damaged.

it sounds to me that seller has ripped you off.

report it to postoffice and send receipt of this report to paypal - stating that phones were not in box, after investigation you should get an refund

That's not true, I have made several successful none ebay paypal claims.

Was it via ebay? This makes a huge difference as to whether you get your money back.

Firstly report to the police and get a CR no, secondly report to RM, as suspected tampering incase you need to claim. Thirdly is the weight on the package, yes or no? If not RM would have this info due to postage paid and it will be on the sellers receipt of postage/delivery, how much was the postage in the label? There will be a huge difference between weight of lots of phones and paper.

This will tell you who is scamming who here, if you paid via ebay you will win a SNAD using this info, if you paid off ebay, you are not covered for a SNAD, only item not received, you have technically received an item, although it's significantly not as described, which you are not covered for and it's on a best effort basis, if they cleared their account out, forget it, and court is your only option. Unless your card will CB.

Shame, i still think Special Delivery was a silly option to accept as method for delivery with such a high value though.

Empty box?? Can't contact seller??? You been had bro...

Why are you "unable to contact the seller"? That rings all sort of alarm bells!
#16
why would you buy 2k worth of phones over the internet and get them sent via royal mail? i don't like sending christmas cards through them, never mind 2k worth of stuff

I have the contact number of the seller, but when I try calling cant get through, I have his ebay ID and have sent him texts to his mobile and emailed via ebay ID. This was directly through Paypal as I have delat with the seller successfully on a few occasions.

It really looks like the package has been tampered with by Royal Mail. I know you shouldn't sign for the item if it looks tampered but it didnt,, it's after I realised there was nothing in the box I started checking the package.

Would RM not investigate this further??
What could the Police do.... can I sue RM?

So it was outside of ebay, this is not looking good is it?

As asked before, what was the price paid on the postage and was the weight shown (if it was)

Not being funny but if you were expecting a box of phones did the weight of the package received not seem odd.

did the piece of paper have the word OWNED written on it?...
#21
you will have to prove that RM has stolen the goods and since you signed for the package it is your word against theirs. anyone can say that goods weren't in the parcel when they received it, bit hard to prove though.

Dont you think that maybe it was not RM?

You paid £2k, ended up with a bit of paper, now the seller is not talking to you.

Look at the weight of the item that was sent. It will say on it.

I'm beginning to think this maybe a wind up, £2000 worth of phones has got to be at least 20 phones and all the OP got was a piece of paper and they didn't notice the weight difference?

As it's out of ebay, that's not good at all you are not covered, unless your card will cb, it will be court time, to try and get the whole 2k back.

How do you know this was RM's fault, how much was the postage label for on the box, go look, how many phones were you expecting.

RM will have the weight of the package on their system from where it was sent, at least try and establish whether it's the seller before accusing RM.

You'd think! So go look at the package op and come back and tell us what was the postage paid?

Paper is pretty heavy in large quantities.

Sounds like seller sold buyer a phone at £50
seller then sold buyer 5 phones @ £200
seller then sold buyer a ream of paper for £2000

happy printing.

You spent £2000 on phones, via an Ebay seller, using PayPal.

This has "disaster" written all over it

Why on Earth would you need £2000 worth of phones?

yep, spot on

Very clever, unless the seller recorded himself packing it?
banned#38
such an obvious scam. If a postie was gonna nick the phones, they wouldnt go through the trouble of replacing a package contents. They would just nick the whole parcel.
#39
Op, if this is true, you want to be looking towards the seller for 2 reasons.

Hell would freeze over before I took £2000 for paypal if I was genuinely sending the goods, to risky for the seller.

*If* and a big if I were to do it, I would do it via ebay for seller protection against duff SNAD, INR, CB claims.

If he really was going to send you 2k worth of stock he would have been crazy to take payment via off ebay pp, unles of course he never intended sending them............
#40
I wonder who suggested they take this deal outside of ebay, buyer or seller,...mmmmmmmmmmmmmm
