I have a question about royal mail and thought this is probably the best place to ask it :)

I bought a dvd from someone and they sent it first class monday (from Glasgow) It is now Thursday and it has not arrived (in London). In your opinions is it gone? or may it possibly turn up tomorrow?

give it a day or two more-good old royal mail dont always get it there in time! I have only had one parcel 'lost' when they attempted delivery and took it to the sort office-and the buyer mustn't have seen the card..anyway i got it back about 4 MONTHS later. lol

Royal Mail don't consider it lost until 15 days after it's posted so as far as they're concerned it's on its way!

I don't know what's happening to RM. They arrived with post to my workplace yesterday at 3.30pm (SE London). Today they turned up at 2pm with a onlly 6 items (we always have a large bundle or sack load) Until a few months ago we usually got delivery no later than 10am! Those were the days......

it takes at least three days for first class mail to arrive at our office in Liverpool from any part of the uk,
would not worry

Hi. Sadly the Royal Mail isnt what it used to be. Their rules state that 1st and 2nd Class will be attempted delivery as soon as possible and the majority does usually get delivered within a few days, however they also state that you should allow up to 21 days (I think) before they will accept responsibility for the item lost in the post.

If the item was sent 1st or 2nd then its possible to make a claim up to the value of £34 (I think again) but I believe this is not a cash payment, rather its paid in postage value, ie stamps.

I post quite a few auction items and I have been given a reliable nod that posting 1st class isnt guaranteed to be any quicker than 2nd class, although its more expensive! I've been told always to post 2nd class as its cheaper and given the same service as 1st class.

Hope this helps. Cheers.
