Not just London, striking in London, Coventry, Birmingham and Essex, then:

"Tomorrow the strike will shift to four other locations, including Edinburgh, and on Aug. 10, when the business week begins, workers at three other sites will strike. Workers at Stoke on Trent will take “continuous strike action” on Aug. 11, the union said yesterday in a statement"

My local postmaster told me that stoke on trent are permanently on strike, any excuse and they will walk out, strange it always happens when its a sunny day and weekend planned:)

Tell me about it :x The posties in Stoke use any excuse.

Doesn't really bother me since I'm never expecting post (other than LoveFilm) but they're always petitioning about something in Hanley on a Saturday.

Service Information for customers

Service Summary for customers: 7th August

The majority of Royal Mail’s national and international mail network is currently operating normally.
Today the CWU is taking industrial action in Peterborough and London, which will affect some mail delivery and collection services in some parts of Peterborough and most parts of London today. The CWU has also notified Royal Mail they intend to take a further 24 hours of industrial action in London on Wednesday 12th August. More information for customers in London and the South East can be found on the South East Regional Pages.
On Saturday 8th August, industrial action is planned in parts of Edinburgh, Irvine and Bristol and on Monday 10th August in parts of Edinburgh, Ipswich, Kings Lynn and a small number of Scottish mail units. Please use the links at the bottom of the page to access more information about your services if you’re a customer in one of these areas.
All other mail services will operate normally during the next week across Royal Mail’s national and international mail network.
Royal Mail remains really disappointed the CWU is still taking industrial action in some parts of London and we’re very sorry for the further disruption to mail services and inconvenience we know this causes customers.

From what I've heard, it's just the drivers that are going on strike. I think last time they did a strike it was just for two hours for each shift through the day, so it effectively cuts 8 working hours out of the day, not the full 24 that the company functions. So, it shouldn't be too bad a delay for us all.

I really wish the CWU would stop being such a bunch of idiots. It's simple enough - keep pulling strikes, and people stop relying on the Royal Mail. This means less money to pay the wages and less work to go round, and that means that there's no need to keep so many mail centres open, and lots of redundancies. They just don't seem to be capable of thinking beyond the immediate result. I bet they're crap at chess, too.
