Royal Mail Thread

Just felt i need good whinge about them!

Im not complaining as i mostly cant fault them, 32p for a 1st class letter is a bargain!
Specially since what they have to go through!

But, i feel there well on the fiddle, ive never had anything go missing that ive posted thank god, but i bought some dvds from someone on this forum sent recorded delivery - never arrived, ive been refunded and i know its not the sellers fault as she put a claim in!

How can something that requires a signature go missing!

Cant say i ever pay 32p to royal mail, i get everything sent recorded delivery, even just a simple boring letter, i dont trust them full stop!

Its on the telly yet again, and i remember the documentary about a year ago.

My postie is well iffy, i think he actually opens my mail and has a nosey to see what im buying, which i find highly annoying, once a dvd was fully open so i queried him about it.

The other day, i knew a dvd was coming, didnt arrive, on the way to my car i saw the postie so pulled him up again, he said "couldnt get in the building", but i hadnt been out at all.....

Sometimes, im really horrified by them....

The new postie round our area got bored very quickly posting.
So everyday he dumped them in the local park in the bushes, after loads of complaints about not recieving their mail Royalmail found out what was going on and found the letters and sacked the postie. The day after finding them most had around a sackful of letters come through their letterbox, sad thing was they were mostly bills:-(

Ive had recorded delivery items turn up here that i havent had to sign for
#4
same here joshanna..just been posted thru my door.

Im totally p'd off...when i phoned them after completing and sending the form and proof off..i asked if they recieved it...and they said...i think so..but nothing has been done with it yet...WTF.......they dont have a clue....

What are these rivalling companies?
Id be interested :)

Im so glad companies are able to rival them now, i seriously dont like them
#6
I dunno...is there any?? lol..i try to use parcel force etc for my parcels. but its annoying the post office ALWAYS give prices and assume everything for royal mail
#7
Yep i know they do  I did know theres a rival company, but i dont know who they are, and i havent had any post delivered by them....

Thankfully, as i said nothing of mine that ive posted has gone walkies, but i just watched the report, out of 52 things posted, 8 didnt arrive, he said that wasnt bad, i think thats terrible! Thats almost 10%
#8
yeah thats about the same as me. the complaints process is ridicolous too. the item i sent was 31st october...still not heard anything after i sent the proof etc after the 14 days. also remember to ALWAYS photocopy/scan etc your proof before sending it. as they will 80% of the time make you send it again. they will do ANYTHING to not have to deal with it

I dont think ive not had anything not turn up yet, but, ive forgot half the stuff ive ordered  ive ordered that much

Thing i HATE is on eBay, Sellers get the flack for the shoddy royal mail service.

Items being opened, damaged (i saw a guy throwing the bags of parcels into his van one after another, surley not good for fragile packages)

ive had many complaints about items not turning up, sometimes after ive sent them twice. from the new year im going to get proof of postage for each item seperatly. all 50 a week. if the post office woman/man doesnt like it. tough. either that or only use recorded (always bumps price up of cheap items tho) royal mail cause more problems than enough.

I know of a card which i didnt get for my birthday this year.
Also 2 of my sons didnt arrive, despite knowing for a fact they were posted :-(
#14
2 of ur sons didnt arrive??? surley thats a matter for the police?? hehe sorry couldnt resist.
#15
Oh, and to add, i hate going to my post office, the assistants are so rude and never smile.

When i go with packages, they make me write out all the slips, they wont do it, they just stand there watching me, which makes the queue longer and longer, but what other choice do i have?

I had another exceptionally late lunchbreak and decided to wander home and chill for a bit (god its been a bad week) and was rather surprised to see our post arriving at 4pm - Surely this is not normal?

I remember when post used to arrive before I went to school! Fair enough it's Christmas, but when I lived with my dad even then the post would not arrive before 12:00.

I hope all you users of "Recorded Delivery" know that it's treated in exactly the same way as first class mail, only it requires a signature at the other end?

If you want a pretty reliable service, you should use "Special Delivery"

Difference being the price :giggle: I know recorded delivery is nothing special, its just a bit more secure than a letter that isnt trackable :)

What is the minimum price of special delivery? Last time i looked it was £4.10
#23
Yeah i know cutthroat_jake but when sending 50 envelopes and only getting a till recipt. how do you complain about the non recipt of mail? as if i complain i can complain about at least 10 that havent turned up.
#24
well i think special deliver is £3.50 on top of your items price. so sending something for £1.06 recorded would really cost £4
#25
i use recorded for paypal purposes really anything over the value of £3 i send recorded. and if someone makes a paypal claim i have the proof i sent it.

someone is currently making a complaint on ebay/paypal cos they didnt recieve an item.... THEY DIDNT EVEN PAY FOR IT.....tw~t
#26
Last time i knew, sending a basic letter was £4.10
#27
dunno maybe then ive never sent a basic letter special delivery before. i sent something quite big and weighty...only £5.70. special delivery
#28
Just checked RM's site, prices start at £4.10.

Suppose its still better than couriers, as there next day is usually next day up until like 5pm, nothing worse than being stuck in for a parcel like i was the other day, which didnt turn up till 8.15pm, when i needed to go out too!
#29
must have gone up since the last time i checked lol..

i never get my parcels they always leave cards..cant hear my door
#30
I'd like to think that ALL my mail is special delivery! Who the hell are you to dick about with our property?
#31
Oh, it's ok. Our postie leave parcels in the "green bin" which is usually full of Goat poo. Lovely.
#32
exacly mbeeching, its shocking really.

at the same time tho, what can the company do as there are thousands working for them. most of the dodgey stuff is probably done on their delivery's so who is meant to watch them?? but saying that, they know this problem and still are really crap when u complain about missing mail
#33
Thing is, surely it's the poor saps like CDWow that foot the bill? Or do they gain an annual rebate for all their missing shipments? I remember last year getting a DVD ludicrously cheap using vouchers and it never turned up and CDWow immediately sent me another one - I felt a little sorry for them really as I imagine they must have made a nasty loss, surely these add up in the grand scheme of things.

I wonder which little sod is enjoying watching that DVD right now?
#34
i know what you mean mbeeching im having to claim right now as i recieved a disc off play.com but it was scratched...so i sent it back (using rec delivery) and it never showed up. there just messing me about now aswell.
