I can't afford a 3p price hike .
#2
Damn, that is alot. They already expensive.
[mod]#3
i wonder who gave it the STAMP of approval?

I would not mind if I were getting a better service but all that happens is things get worse.
You send something in the post 1st class and it rarely arrives the following day.

Plus, my postman had the cheek to turn up at 3.50pm yesterday - yeah, I understand it is Xmas but WTF?
#5
am i the only one that thinks the postal service does a good job ?
#6
the 3p increase I can just about manage but their extortionate £8 customs handling charge is still day light robbery, it was far more insane when they increased this from £4 straight to £8.
#7
my postie used to deliver between 8-10am...... now its 12-2 some days later....... he will get any special delivery parcels before 1pm but then carry on his round grrrrrr

i find most of my parcels (sent 1st class) take about 2 days to get here ...... which im not bothered about but stop increasing the prices FFS

Would you rather he have not worked the overtime at all, and delayed your mail to the next day?

i think the royal mail do a good job, before you start to slate me i have lived both in the u.s.a and spain and compared to them our postal service is excellent, in the u.s. mai from another state can take up to 3 weeks, even if the state line is only a cpl of miles away, and internal mail in spain is horrendously slow, when you complain in spain they say ah it will come tomorrow, so stop your moaning , it could be a lot worse
#12
i dont mind nearly 90% of things i post first class get to there destination next day. My postie also comes at around 12. So no problems here.
#13
walking down the street yesterday, there was a royal mail van, with the postman taking out bags of post, and literally throwing them 10-15 feet across the road into the doorway opposite. no wonder everything gets fecking broken.

I would not class delivering my mail as overtime - this is a service that has been paid for. I appreciate the increase in mail at this time of year - however the extra revenue that they benefit from, should be used to employ additional staff, so that I get my mail at a decent time. Gone are the days when I would receive it before 8am

i get mail 2 times a week never everyday and letters always late plus my parcels are stocked up over the week and delivered all in one go.

So maybe the extra 3p is to pay for improvements! Maybe coming soon, your mail will be delivered by Rolls Royce and handed to you on a gold platter!
#18
I would be happy to pay a price increase if they stopped hiring casual staff who have gone through no security checks. I've hard loads of parcels delivered to find that they have been cut open slightly just enough to see what the contents are. If it's anything decent then it goes missing. It's sad that we have to pay extra for a service just to make sure that their staff don't nick the post! (recorded delivery)

A True Story :- My OH sent a small parcel to our niece with Post Office Recorded Delivery.

Postie just left on the front door step when got no answer.

Only found it a few days later after we enquired , as they mostly use the side door.

It's called Recorded Delivery - SOMEONE HAS TO SIGN FOR IT -Mr Postie.
THATS WHAT WE PAY FOR.

Then you're rather ignorant.

You might not class the delivering of your mail as overtime, but the postman does. Shifts run from 6am until 2pm, and this means that when there's too much mail to be delivered, postmen either have to delay stuff until the next day, or put a few more hours in.

There is indeed an increase in mail at this time of year, and yes they do get more revenue, and, they do employ additional staff. 20,000 of them, in fact. But do you really think that it'd be a good idea to put 20,000 largely un-vetted staff out on the streets handle and deliver your mail? Do you not see the enormous security problem there?

And yes, indeed probably gone are the days when you get your mail at 8am. But then, what do you expect, for the Royal Mail to replace one postman's 8 hour route and shift with eight postmen doing 1 hour routes and shifts?

I am so angry about that I am going to write about it on the internt.

I may choose to use such gems of wisdom as "OMG" or "wtf" it is also highly likely that I will refer to "u" rather than "you."

Please do not be surprised if I quote "facts" that I got from The Daily Mail and/or The Sun. Because I read those and they tell me the truth.

It's the fault of the immigrants you know?

I will now end my rant about

Call it ignorance or whatever you wish. Christmas is not a new thing and Royal Mail were able to handle delivering at a decent time many years before - what is new? Perhaps the REDUCTION in the amount of mail that is being sent at this time of year compared to previous is making them less efficient.

as long as you get your mail safely does it really matter what time you get it ?
