#7

#8
I figured this as being a day late too :?
#9
Horrible, horrible, horrible...just HORRIBLE!!
#10
Looks like some sort of England Football team commemorative coin collection.
#11
I think it looks great :? don't know what everyone is complaining about. Think the idea behind it, with each coin carrying a part of the shield of the royal arms and the £1 having it in it's entirety is a nice idea.

I don't really mind the design but it's a shame we will lose the new design on the £1 coin we get each year.

And what about the £2 coin? Or don't they do them anymore? (I use plastic100%, does it show )

It looks nice all laid out like that, but think of them as individual coins. Not so good.

As long as we don't switch to the Euro then it's fine by me, though I do really like the new design. I hate using the Euro, it's impossible to tell what denomination the coins are without having a good look at them, very impractical.

Where's the £2 coin? :?

As long as it can be spent, who cares what it looks like!

The £2 coin isn't changing.
#19
It seems a bit stupid not changing the £2, will look a bit out of place.
#20
i quite like it
#21
Do they look so good now?

They look awful.. I feel the same way about the new notes too..
#23
I heard its got a Euro symbol on the other side.
#24
I suppose it might have made a bit of sense if they actually added up to a pound, but as it is, it's a bit of a 'Blue Peter competition winner' to me.

They do not.:x

At the end of the day.. coins are coins. They are worth what they are worth. I dont hang mine up on the wall as artwork
#27
It should have the head of Lech Kaczyński on it.

It seems that he has an identical twin, so that might be a problem:whistling:

think you may find they must have the queens head on them

Just imagine the cost involved in all this. Still, the mint can afford it, if they run a bit low on cash they can always make some more
#31
I quite like the look of them. Lets face it, most of them are due a face lift - some of them have hardly been changed in almost 40 years - still plenty say "NEW PENNY" on them

Why will it be so expensive? They don't need to retool, vending/counting machines will still work - it's just a different die-stamp, there must be a good twenty designs already for the pound coin...

Well I heard they couldn't change it to 'nearly new penny' as ebay objected

Hey!
1) It's not ENGLISH curency ;-)
2) It is 'coinage';-)
3) It is BRITISH coinage you know, England, N. Ireland, Scotland & Wales;-)
4) Is it true or a left over April 1st? :whistling:
#34
Given our current record of f****** up major designs, it probably could have been worse.

Good effort!

Compared to the Olympic Logo the coins are fine.
#37
oh my god, the olympic design is just an appauling 1980's throw back, lol
#38
At least the two pence coin will no longer have a german motto!!
;-)

We've got different notes which the Scottish Banks print but the coins are the same.
