Hi,

I got a xbox, which had the RROD, and managed to repair it by removing the XCLAMPS and everything, and it worked fine for about 2 weeks. However, over the weekend, i was playing it and turned it off to go out. When i switched it back on again it had RROD again???...

I re-done the XCLAMP trick, and put on fresh thermal paste and let it overheat, but this time it didnt work like it did the first time.

I dont know whats up.. is it e74?.. what shall i do.. try it again. as i know it works, as it worked before.. ?...

Or should i sell it, and if so,.. how much can i get for it, as its got a HDMI port on it too... not flashed however, and not banned from XBOX live either.. got all the cables with it too!!...

Any help would be appriciated....!

Thanks...

if it's E74 it will say E74 on the screen when you connect it.
You say you removed the xclamps? Did you put them back on or fit the updated ones?

Hit it with a sledge-hammer:whistling:

Sounds to be like you done a poor job on the xclamp first time round. If its RROD again its RROD it would state otherwise when booted.

I removed the Xclamps and replaced with washers... and new (non-microsoft) thermal paste both times.. and it worked for 2 weeks fine!...

It hasnt said anything about e74.... but wondering why its just stopped working...?

how much dya think i could sell it for, for someone else to fix it if they got use for it?..

I only really play on the ps2 anyway.. PES2008!! siick!

I'd try and fix it using the Team Xecuter kit, you can get them on fleaby if you search for rrod and xecuter , they're not that expensive.

Sounds like you haven't done the bolts up tight enough.

When you replace the x-clamps and overheat it the sodlers reconnect and seal back together. If the bolts are too loose the solders will flex again under heat.

Keep tightneing untill the spring washers are flat and the bolt stops turning.

That or you didn;t get all the old paste off. Try cleaning it again until you can see your face, then a few drops of paste, fix heatsinks and bolts, washers etc untill then are hand tight.

Turn xbox on and leave for 20mins until the solders get really hot, then turn off and tighten. Leave for 30 mins and try again, The solders should be nicely re-connected

Of course there are some 360 that you just can't fix for love nor money!
