Rubbish Sky Engineer

I had Sky+HD installed this morning and i'm pretty annoyed with the sky engineer. He was a complete ********, seemed as though he didn't know much and wasn't very good.
He didn't explain what he needed to do/was doing, didn't explain how to use sky-hd or anything. Just came in set-up the box and left. He also said that the sky+ features will start working within 4hrs, 4hrs later nothing, phoned sky and they said that he didn't phone them to activate it when he said he did.

As you can tell it annoyed me! Was just wondering if its worth phoning sky and complaining, i took the details off his van. I know i probably wont get anything out of it, but it might make me feel a bit better.

Was it a true sky installer in a sky logo van or just a contractor
sky use local installers as well as their own but if you complain about work done they always send their own installer out to check the work.
You should call and report it -
I had a true sky engineer install my sky+ and he left me his work mobile number incase I had any problems in the first 30 days to call him direct
My father had a sky contracter who was useless and made a mess of the work so when he called to complain they sent the guy that came to me round to re-do all the work.

yea same as above i have had a installer from custom.tv and a true sky installer, the one from custom.tv didnt seem to have a scooby and was more interested in my larger european dish, ring and complain m8 but i seriously doubt it will do anything as its not really worth them looking into, unless there where a lot of complaints about the same guy

I would def complain, the enigineer who fitted sky for us a couple of years ago was great and he came back to install the sky +, but when we had an extra box fitted in my daughters room the guy didnt have a clue, the first guy had to come back to redo it! As above he also left his card which included his details and the name of his supervisor.

It wasn't a true Sky installer it was a contractor. Its not that he made a complete mess of anything it was just awful service. Will give Sky a phone, on a FREE phone number, and see what response i get. Their's no harm in trying.

Calling these muppets engineers is an insult to engineers.

Sitting through a 1/2 day training course doesnt qualify them to that name!

Did you make him a cuppa? ...Id have fitted and left in a huff too lol

Try emailing the following person ([email protected]) as he seem to be quite high up and can authorise quite a lot of stuff. I emailed him as my previous sky box which i got from hotukdeals developed a common fault, it was out of warranty, it took a week to get a responce from him but he arranged for an engineer to arrive next day with a brand new sky box, all free of charge.

He then emailed me back once the engineer had been to make sure that my problems had been sorted and asked if the engineer was any good.

Many people had had the problem i was having and told me to email the person and all have had the same treatment, we're talking about 100's if not 1000's of people having done it, so you may be able to get somewhere with your issue.

lol reminds me of the little guy who fitted my euro dish he hanged on to the ledge using his toes lol didnt moan once and spent ages helping me get used to my box
#16
i'm surprised there were no replies about being lucky at actually having sky hd installed:)

good luck getting it sorted

The first guy that came and installed sky a couple of years ago was fantastic, sat down and showed us how to use sky etc..

Yes i did offer him a drink, but he refused!

He had a problem when connecting the box as the current tv doesn't have a hdmi connection, that confused him! He just ended up using the scart lead.

I had **** Sky installation, complained and got first months bill waived, not bad considering I had a 3 box multi-room with all premium channels at the time ! Always worth complaining !!

Before you order a new HD box be warned about what might be in store for you. Sky customer service is hopeless. Which has just resulted in me cancelling my entire Sky service instead of upgrading to HD. I tried to order this online when the offer came out, they couldn't complete online is I had to phone them, so I missed out on the discount of £10 for the first month's HD service.

Then their engineers failed to turn up to three separate installation appointments, including a PM appointment on Valentine's day. WHen I phoned to find outwhat was going on the Sky customer services tried to phone the installation contractor who put them on hold for 15 minutes and wouldn't speak to them. I was told there was nothing they could do and to phone back in the morning.

I phoned this morning to be told that apparently I was booked in for an AM appointment on Monday, which is a lie as I would never have agreed to an AM appointment. Upon checking my details they had the wrong postcode for me on their system despite me correcting it on the phone with them twice so my installations were being assigned to the wrong region. The next available appointment would be SIX WEEKS ! So having wasted three days of my time they now wanted me to wait another six weeks.

I asked to be put through to cancellations, they offered to waive the installation fee of £30 but could not install sooner than six weeks. So given that I needed a quick installation to replace a dying Sky+ box (my 3rd incidentally) there was little point in staying with Sky with a service that continually fails to record programmes. I've cancelled, the kids will be upset but they will just have to live without Disney channel. I don't think I've ever come across a company that treats it's existing customers so poorly.
