Go to a proper running shop like runners world and they'll do a few test (watching you run on a treadmil and videoing it) and get you the correct pair for your needs/build.

They sell lots of different types of running trainers based on your running style, at reasonable prices.

Do not buy online if you have any ankle, calf injuries/problems. As stated above, go try some out and do the treadmill test of you'll just aggravavte any injuries.

yes, a 'proper' specialist runing shop will analyse your foot strike and tell you if you under or over pronate and therefore what shoe might best suit you - if you were near Bristol, Easy Runner are brilliant. and just try and run on soft ground (i.e grass preferably) and slowly build up the mileage.. and take Cod Liver Oil ;-)
