Does anyone know if it is possible to do a running word count on microsoft word. One of the requirements for my coursework is that I state how many words have been typed at the end of each page and apparently I'm not allowed to just type "Word Count: 2313" or something like that at the bottom.

Rep for any helpers :)

If you highlight each individual page worth of text, it will say how many words are on that page and then a forward slash, and then the total number of words in the document.

You can't get it to do this automatically though.

What you need to do is put the cursor at the point you want the word count to appear. The select insert>field. Scroll to NumWords then select ok. Once you've finished writing the document go to each instance of word counter and update field: Best bet is to put it in the footer.

I don't use word so i'm not sure if this method is exactly what you want.
