Ryan air rip-off fees question

Helloooo

Just looking at cheapy on-line holidays via various website agents - lastminute etc

Some of the flights are with Ryanair. They now kindly charge you £23 for up to 15kg of luggage per person. They say this is per person per one way flight.

So does this mean its £23 each way - ie £46 return?

Bit of a rip-off if so- that would mean £184 for 4 cases for 2 adults/2kids. blimey.

#2

When you get a quote for a package holiday on the website in question, it doesn't give you the option of choosing other " regular non rip off" airlines. It also doesn't give you the option of booking the hotel only so I haven't looked into other airline fees as yet either so unfortunately I can't answer your question.

However, I would imagine that when you total up the cost of such Ryan-air flights, the difference, if any, between them and certain other airlines would be minimal. Certainly a lot less than it .used to be anyway.

See above - the holiday agent website allocates them as part of its "package", you don't get to choose.

Personally, I wouldn't choose to fly with ryanair anyway. This is because they are no longer price-competitive in their market plus the fact that on my previous few experiences witth them, their service has been less than satisfactory.

thanks.

Still awaiting for someone to actually answer my question too.:-D

Yes - more shopping around will be done.

If it is just £23 for both ways then fair enough but for each way, then the total flight cost is un-competitive anyway,

so why are you labeling them as rip off merchants exactly? the costs are there to see and you have a choice

if you choose to take 15kg per person on top of what they allow thats an extra 60kg,,,,,do you expect this to not cost the airine extra in fuel and employment costs? what do you expect for 5-25 quid flights:roll::roll::roll:

they can be cheap if you are frugal and wise to what you take with you otherwise use someone else

which website is it if i can ask?

and yes we flew with monarch too and the cost of bags was extortionate-its between £10 and £16 each way and only 5k onboard

ryanairs website says £30 eturn so £23 must be discounted i would think on your site?

http://www.ryanair.com/en/questions/table-of-fees

This Ryanair table of fees has a 15kg allowance per bag/ per One Way Flight @ £15 each so £15 x8 if you each had a bag!! Girls' bags would be hand luggage though.
I don't know where the £23 comes from.
Have you looked at putting the holiday together yourself?

"The checked baggage fees are charged per person/per one way flight"

Ryanair charge £15 if booked online through them, though £35 if booked on the phone or at the airport. So at £23 it's sitting somewhere in the middle.

Shame you cant book an extra seat for your bag. 'Yes this seat is for Mr Bag, yes he a little quiet!':-D

£5-£25 flights...thats what colins saying...theyre not competitive if you add on the fees £23x8 if thats right as Ryanair flights i have looked at have been over £100 each plus fees-so maybe better with Thomson (we were last xmas)

Well the flights aren't £5-25. They are actually just over £150 each. When you add on all their "costs" they come to just over £220 each. Just done a price comparison and I can get same flight, same day leave/return ( although obv. different depart times) same airport for £84 less per person with another "budget airline", who incidentally, on their webite, their costs are more easier to see than Ryanair. This includes the luggage allowance.

So therefore on this occasion, as a budget airline, Ryanair are more expensive and in my opinion, a tad rip off.

However, as stated, the travel agent only seem to offer them as an option so I guess I will vote with my feet!

Hi Chesso. Happy New Year,

And thanks for being the first to answer my question.

Yes, I am going to put it together myself I think. Already found a cheaper flight as previous comments. I just checked the website as a "quick-quote" earlier and the Ryan-air flight is what they came up with.

Just need to find a nice "digs" now. It's my annual jaunt to Ibiza for a bit of clubbing!!

Cheers - I'm just doing the price comparison sights now. I don't know where the travel agents get the £23 from either. It seems different to the Ryanair quoted table of costs.

Blimey. only want to book a cheap week in the sun and sangria.:w00t:

Hi Col, Happy New Year to you as well and glad to see Ibiza is still on the menu - good to stay young ( at heart anyway!!:p) Good luck with the on-line search. We spend hours like that!! I have to say that I did love Ryanair when we got the 4p, total, return flights to Italy.:-D
