Ryan Babel to Birmingham for £9 mil .........

Ryan Babel's agent has confirmed Birmingham have made an offer for the Liverpool winger.

As revealed by skysports.com earlier this week Birmingham have tabled a bid for the unsettled Dutchman.

Liverpool are believed to be ready to offload Babel as Rafa Benitez looks to raise funds for his own signings in this month's transfer window.

If Liverpool raise enough money from transfers....

they can afford to sack Rafa!
#4
and this is what happens when you give big eck cash. oh well suppose it was fun for brum fans while it lasted.

I personally wouldn’t want to see him go. He seems to a good player but doesn’t get the opportunity to play under Rafa, and like many incoming players, is often played out of his preferred position, again another Rafa thing.

dossena, voronin, babel, kyriakos, should be sold ridiculous signings 9m good for liverpool ,birmz can do better alot better, babel has no desire to play for any team other than ajax

The one I don't get if it goes through is Patrick Veria to Man City on loan then option of 1 year deal, seriously I thought they would be looking to the future not to players past their haydays, whats next Roy Keane come back to play for Man Utd?

If Vieira can still do a job then why not? He's 33 so maybe a season or two left, he knows the league and if he doesn't work out then he goes back to Inter.

The issue is why Wenger hasn't snapped him up if he can still do the job.

Please take him, please!

The offer has supposedly been rejected as Rafa insists he's not for sale  - http://www.football.co.uk/liverpool/liverpool_fc_reject_9million_offer_from_birmingham_city_for_ryan_babel_rss300116.shtml

Babel for £9m............ seems a bargain compared to this

Juan Sebastian Veron has revealed that he has snubbed an offer from Roberto Mancini to join Manchester City.

The 34-year-old former Chelsea and Manchester United midfielder is enjoying a renaissance at Estudiantes and was crowned South American Player of the Year last year.

A number of European clubs have looked to entice him back, and Veron has revealed that Mancini made him an offer.

However, the Argentine star has snubbed the chance to link up with Mancini - who he played with at Sampdoria and Lazio - in order to remain with Estudiantes.

"It's not a fact of money. First of all is the family, and second, I have made a decision and I want to respect it, that is what I feel and Estudiantes is the place where I feel comfortable," said Veron.

"If I would have accepted this offer I wouldn't have been true with my convictions, with myself and with the people."

Veron's agent Miguel Pires went into detail about City's offer.

"Veron said to me that he received a phone call from Mancini and that he had offered him £7million and the same to Estudiantes for a one-year contract," he revealed.

"In addition, that amount would have been duplicated if he would have continued at Manchester City during 2011."

:w00t: :w00t:

Liverpool will only sign Maxi Rodriguez and one or two loan players (a RB, and one of Van Nistelrooy / Van Der Vaart). They're also close to agreeing a pre-contract agreement with Maroune Chamakh.

Any money from sales (from Degen, Voronin, Dossena and possibly Babel) will be held back until the Summer. It's going to leave the squad thin as it is, so that's probably why they've rejected the Babel bid.

If I was Rafa I'd accept any offer, But since Rafa's a complete imbecile with the intelligence in managing of a chimp. I expect he'll believe is team are capable of winning the Champions League even though their not in it.

In Rafa you trust, Come on if your realistic you'll admit Rafa's not good enough, I certainly wouldn't trust him.

I think apart from Arsene Wenger all the top club managers make regular appalling signings.

But still i'd like to see Mourinho come in at the end of the season. :)

Would he be any good at a team without the unlimited funds like he had at Chelsea, or in a one-horse race like he was at Porto / Inter?

 i think if we can get, rodriguez and say Nistelrooy or van der vaart on loan then weve done well, first ive heard of Chamakh tbh but that would be pretty good lol

I think so. He won the Champions League and Uefa Cup with Porto against the odds plus he has learnt his trade from people like Sir Bobby. :)

Yes of coarse they do, It's not just his signings though, It's his team selection and general managerial skills that's his problem, He's no longer taking the club forwards, Rather the opposite, Hence why Liverpool need a new manager.

I'm happy though, While Rafa's in charge Liverpool wont win much, I can happily live with that.

I'd be pleased with that too. Although can't quite see where VDV would fit in unless Mascherano leaves (which looks unlikely as he's persuaded Rodriguez to sign a permanent deal). Chamakh held talks with Liverpool yesterday, which supposedly went well

If Rafa does go (which I'm still not sure he will) I'd be happy with any one of Mourinho, Hiddink or Roy Hodgson :)

ye i think we need nistelrooy more than van der vaart anyway, i think rodriguez will be a good signing and if chamakh joins in the summer than that would be awesome
