john lennon must be turning in his grave after the most least popular of beatles puts out a silly statement - lest he forgets lennon was shot doing exactly whats bingo says hes not going to
i would have understood if he'd said its too dangerous -

5p listing on ebay for memorablia - thats all its worth

Former Beatle Ringo Starr will no longer sign memorabilia for fans and will throw away all fan mail he receives in the future, he has said.
"Please do not send fan mail to any address you have," he said in a video message on his website.
"Nothing will be signed after the 20th of October. If that is the date on the envelope, it's gonna be tossed.
"I'm warning you with peace and love I have too much to do," the 68-year-old drummer said.
Dressed in black clothes and dark glasses, Starr said it was "a serious message to everybody watching".
He added: "No more fan mail and no objects to be signed. Nothing."

Ringo is one of the meanest people going. They named a field after him in front of my home in Liverpool. He came to open it, a big picture of him was erected on the railings, but he ran for his life when asked to donate towards the sports facilities. He has recently remarked that he does not like Liverpool or its people.

Drummer Ringo Starr grew up in Liverpool, England, where he lived until becoming a member of The Beatles. Recently, when asked about what he misses about Liverpool, Starr replied "nothing".
In retaliation, some Liverpool people have taken pruning shears and lopped off the head of Ringo's floral likeness as part of Liverpool's 2008 European Capital of Culture celebration taking place.
A floral arrangement depicting The Beatles was commissioned for the Liverpool South Parkway Station. While Ringo's head was chopped off, the likenesses of John, Paul, and George were left intact. Police are investigating the incident.

I think some of his latest rants is to do with his lack of reading skills. I'm not joking. I was part of a steering group in the local school, who were going to write to Ringo to open the field mentioned above. His PA contacted us and asked to send a short video instead (the children made and sent it) because he did not like reading.:-D

that's a bit harsh guys.

he was still one of the fab four afterall, my own personal dislike is more with McCartney - seems rather conceited and hasn't done much in his solo career to compare with some of the lennon solo work.

I think he has actually shot himself in the foot though. Knowing Liverpool people, they will flood his mailbox with junk mail in retaliation:) He should have just accepted the situation and said nothing publically. He comes out looking like the bad guy in all of this.

How much fanmail dya think he gets? and is it for Thomas rather than the Beatles??:?

Maybe it's because he's the forgotten man. The amount of people i've heard say......all of the Beatles are dead except McCartney.

Maybe it's given him a complex

Anyway........peace and love, peace and love. :o

Actually I gotta agree with that, I like McCartney but he does seem conceited...

Maybe after all these years Ringo just decided enough is enough...sure I heard a while back he was the only one that ever responded to fans letters etc.

Dan I gotta disagree, drummers are way more important to a band than people see, without them everything would fall apart, they provide the tempo that leads to the great sounds....Would Nirvana still be as good without Dave Grohl at the drums?!

LETTER TO ROYAL MAIL

Please please mr postman

as you walk up the long and winding road you might see the fool on the hill but we don’t do it in the road - theres a place in penny lane so get back there and with a little help from my friends we can work this out - don’t let me down

don’t bother me unless its a letter from the taxman - help - I should have known better

From me to you

Ps. I love you

Fair play to him, I'd get sick of replying to fan mail after 40 years or whatever it is, because he did reply to fan mail and did his best to do the right thing. The fact he replied to fan mail personally was also highlighted in a Simpsons episode involving Marge sending him a portait she painted. So for him enough is enough, let him retire in peace.

Do Brits like to tear down the successful any chance they get? I've heard that said many times, often alongside a comparison with US culture where people are said to take the opposite approach.

I say give the man a break and let him enjoy his good fortune in peace and quiet.

But give me someone who has made a fortune through greed and exploitation of others, and I'll tear them down with relish! :)

oh yeah i rememebr that now.

most people dont bother, get secratries to sign things too. my dad used to work with sean maguire when he had pop career and my dad and brothers and him would all sit their signing the pictures. so more than half of them were fakes:whistling:

i agree, i think just the way he did it was abit of a shock to those devoted fans. He could at least pretend he's sorry he doesnt have time and stuff.. i saw that interview on Ross, where he said he missed nothing.. and he didnt even say 'only joking' or... 'nah i had good times there' etc. So i think people just felt abit shoved aside. But i do agree, after all this time he's allowed to not sign stuff and respond to all.
