I am not a supporter of the death penalty, but in this case I find it hard to shed a tear.
#6
it won't be long before liveleak(ogrish) has it all.
#7
Prison is a more severe punishment in the long term

Hardly ...
the world is well shut of him its just a shame that in response the the execution there is more likely to be more trouble and death..
#9
How do we know the world is well shut of him? I'm not so sure...
#10
I agree with Jaz.

How ever, if he escaped, then that'd be a problem! Now he's dead, it means no more bad can come from 'him'
#11
Well, in prison he's gonna think about what he's done, and he knows he'll be there until he dies, and knows where he's going to die, and is a lot of emotional pain.

However, being hung, it's all over in minutes or whatever, and there isn't much pain. He can't escape or get away however.

It's kind of balanced.

From him no, from his 1000s of supporters, yes.

Saw the execution video on Google Video, it was pretty poor quality but you could clearly see it was real. If any of you guys are curious enough, go to video.google.com and type in "Saddam Execution Video", it's about the 7th video down.
#14
Is it available to watch now then??
#15
it is indeed, i've been waiting all day for it to be on the ogrish site, and google get it first, looks real to me, i did wonder if they had actually hanged him, but seeing this it is all real now.

Tony & George Next.

The one on the news of the world is the same one on the google video
#17
I wonder if they drugged him up b4 hand? He seemed quite out of it in the lead up. Good ridance!

Why do people want to watch someone hang?
#19
im curious, how many of you would watch the whole footage if it was available? (as in the hanging itself)
#20
I did, the google video shows him drop
#21
what did you remove?
#22
*Rolls around in corner sucking thumb* I Didnt want to see that vid....
#23
I think its just human nature for people to want to look, its like the diana pic that people were desperate to see after it appeared in a paper, im suprised this hasnt surfaced on the internet yet.

I think due to the nature of what he did alot of people will want to see this video, im actually suprised it wasnt broadcast.
#24
this was on the net quicker than I expected

WARNING - GRAPHIC VIDEO - OPENING IS YOUR RESPONSABILITY AND DESCISION

**Mod Edit: I've removed the link. If people are that desperate to see it then they can go and find it themselves. :-(

This is not a politcial forum.

1) This is a family forum, sometimes visited by children.
2) This is a forum for hunting deals, not political debate.

There are lots of Political Debate Forums out there if you want to go and argue that Bush and Blair are just as bad.

Feel free to carry on conversation here, but please don't post graphic links, swear, use racial or religion-based discrimination or start flaming each other and start arguments.

Offenders may face a temporary ban, because it's New Years Eve and I for one can't be bothered watching the forum all night.

Thanks. :)
#26
apologies, maybe the thread should be deleted then...
#27
Nah, it's okay. People can speak their views. Just be nice to each other. :)

I feel sorry for all the UK servicemen/women out there.
Got a text from my mate whos out there as a fireman. He says it has kicked off big style. Don't feel sorry for him. He's earning £400 a day

Mmmm...the truth is yet to out about this - expect duplicity and vengeance and abuse of the condemned on a scale not acceptable in Europe. The truth will out on this execution and will haunt Iraq or its current administration for years, perhaps? Not so sure about the USA tho' - they seem to 'rule' the World on an unprecedented scale. I am old enough to have been told, at my Grandmothers knee, about Nuremberg hangings -apparently driven by the Americans right to the end. A certain Rudolph Hess was held as a sole prisoner by the Allies, UK, Russia and the USA, he having escaped the hanging penalty. Certainly two of the allies never wanted him to be released - he finally died(?) in custody - on an American watch I think?

Nothing quick about hanging too. Me, I think it is unacceptable in the 21st Century - and I am not a pacifist by any means. Even the condemned have rights that lead to respect, surely?
Well, there is my two penneth worth- kind regards and sleep tight. Hope U all have a very good 07.

Charming! £400 a day but look at the risks! I'm gobsmacked!
#35
£400 a day?! HOWWWWW!?

That's err like, 145600 per year [7 days a week, 52 weeks a year].

Serving abroad [military i assume] is a full time job. You are paid for all your time there right?

There are a lot of things that go on in different places around the World that people do not like. You should worry about things that happen to you and your family and those around you, not what goes on, on the other side of the World.

My personal feeling on this subject is - 1) no Country (or their leader) has the right to invade another Country for whatever reason, this should be the task, if need be by the United Nations and 2) who gave this government the right to decide that my taxes should be used for purposes that will not help people in THIS Country.

If the UK government wants to do some good with my taxes I would like to see some of it spent in places like Zimbabwe, where people are treated worse than those in Iraq.

Zimbabwe is part of the Crown, Zimbabwe supplies the UK with an awful lot of fresh produce - daily, Zimbabwe is a least developing country. Iraq does not fall into any of those categories. Zimbabwe is not of strategic global importance in the World to place spy equipment to see what other Nations are doing. Zimbabwe's oil reserves maybe not be as large as Iraq's so not a valid reason for invasion. Arab's in the Middle East poses a bigger threat to Countries like the USA than Blacks in Africa. Does Cuba pose a threat to the World, does Cuba treat their nationals in a fair and right way? Do nationals in the UAE get treated fairly by their respective Governments?

What about the guy down the road who beats his wife senseless every time he drinks? what about the woman who leaves her young children at home while she goes out to get drugs to feed her habit? what about the old couple who live across the road who cannot afford the money to heat their house??? There is a lot of problems in this Country that need addressing before we criticise how other Countries treat their own.

The media has a big hand in this problem and as soon as people realise this, the sooner we can start to put right problems 'at home'

I doubt it's military they are talking about - more likely private security companies and let's be honest £400 a day when you are literally risking life and limb is nothing is it.

As for our military and I speak from experience as my DH has just completed 22 years service - our military aren't anywhere near minimum wage if you go on that they have to be available for work, 24-7, 52 weeks of the year.

They get paid a little extra for being away from their familes whilst on tours of duty but it's little consolation when they are away from their families for 6-8 months at a time with only a couple of months back with their families before being sent to some other hell-hole!
