Hmmm, not quite sure what to make of this, just as they were getting some of their market share back.

Not debating the rights or wrongs but could be a PR disaster

Hm. Maybe that's why I am frequently the only white person to be seen in my local Sainsbury's come 9pm.

I agree, especially the checkout staff at our local Tesco who at the weekend chat acros the customers they are supposed to be serving to discuss their plans for the evening etc.

They think their are doing the employer a huge favour for turning up where it should be that they are grateful for a job.

Although, of course, they are not all like that.

I think what you need to take into account is that the likes of Tesco etc LOVE school leavers. Would you be interested in your job at £3.40 an hour?

my 1st job i was paid 20p an hour

however much/little you are paid shouldnt reflect on how you work.

a job is a responsibilty and a duty.

Sure any worker should be responsible for their own behaviour but where is the decent management of these staff...maybe the stores that are employing kids on minimum wage just accept that this is the price you pay & it's not worth spending time or money to supervise or train their 'grunt' staff??!?

Yeah I agree, bring back slavery:evil:

Point I was trying to make though is that minimum wage based on AGE rather than abilty is a bit suspect no matter how you look at it. A younger person (with a good work ethic obviously) will no doubt be better at a heavy manual job than a worn out old fart:giggle:

It is 100% down to management inaction imho. They get paid so they don't care, look after number 1. Good job i'm not a manager because where I used to work I would have sacked the lot of them, bunch of lazy workshy *****:x

* I am of course referring to the 16/17 yo workforce they employed in that last comment lol.
