Talk about taking advantage of your customer base.

Surely 90% of them take paracetamol on a regular basis.

The are just as bad with petrol in my local area - they have gone from always second cheapest to asda but last few weeks its now dearer than everyone, including independant Jet and Gulf stations

I've noticed a lot of Sainsburys own brand stuff has gone up quite a bit recently so not just Paracetamol. And not just a few pence but 10/20p at a time. Yes it's only pennies but pennies make pounds. This is a deals site after all.

Although this may be true, the majority of own brand stuff has gone down in price in recent time.

They're still unnecessarily expensive compared to others however.

Sainsburys have always been Waitrose prices with Tesco quality yet they seem to survive. They also suffer (at least locally to me) with staff worse than any other supermarket chain. I've no idea why anyone would shop there but, obviously, they do.

Get them from your doctor? £8.40 per item for a prescription.... that makes sense! :|

It's 19p.

Lottery winners have wasted their millions with that same principle.
"Its only £1000, its only £5000"

Some even declared bankruptcy after blowing it all. Not saying someone will do bankrupt over 19p, but it all adds up. If Sainsburys charged an extra 19p on everything, it will make your shopping a lot more expensive.

You're probably one of the few on HUKD that has to pay for prescriptions; despite some of the claims to gainful employment. ;)

I know that, but OP is effectively telling me to leave the store and drive elsewhere because I'll save 19p.

not worried about the 19p. i was trying to make members aware you have to pay a £1 for two pkts in sainsburys compared to 38p in asda for the same product and a bit cheaper in other stores if they are something you need to buy regular.

Not really. He's just suggesting that you would be better off not buying your paracetamol from Sainsburys, which is good advice.

I didn't realise that you were old enough to drive a car. You learn something new every day.

I still don't really get it. Surely there are hundreds of products you could say the same for from different supermarkets?

Asda have been putting there prices up alot recently
Asda's ploy has always been to make their shops filthy old holes so their customers think that they must be cheap. On the very rare occasions that I've been in there (usually to get some booze offer) they've always looked to be Tesco prices or more, particularly on branded goods.

They used to be good, got a massive 24 hour one as my most local supermarket, now prices are going up and up, the shelfs are often empty, the choice of products has gone down and they are getting all this what i assume to be Americanised stuff in,. No margarita pizzas in stock and the section for them is tiny but endless amounts of chicken tika on sour dough pizza and odd crap like that, they are doing the same thing with crisps lobster and champagne flavour anyone?

I do most of my shopping in morrisons now it's cheaper and that store is tiny in comparison to asda yet they always manage to have bread in stock unlike asda

If you want something completely different, try Tesco Cocoa and Spiced Rum crisps. Surprisingly, they're a lot better than they sound. ;)

I read that as a clear joke, not a serious statement. :p

However, if we were being serious we would mention that yearly prescription prepayment certificates exist (£104). So it wouldn't cost the patient any more, you can bet the NHS pay more for a box than sainsburys sell it for though...
