Sainsburys - Replace Faulty 360 (can't find receipt)?

Right, first off, no 360 bashing in this thread......... I know they are the most unreliable pieces of poorly stuck together crap which a lobotomized premature foetus of a monkey with leprosy could put together better but they have by far the best games (IMO). And I know MS have no QC as this is about my 7th or 8th one since launch day.

Anyway, my Pure/Lego Elite combo died about 30 mins ago and I can't find the receipt anywhere and sainsburys customers services is closed for the night. As I am feeling mighty pee'd off at the moment as my day in general has been crapola does anyone know if sainsburys will accept a bank statement as proof of purchase or whether they have any facility to bring up any transactions I have made. I only bought it at most 6 months ago.

Thanks, and please, someone make my evening just a little more bearable.

bank statement is as good as proof of purchase, they can then find it in their system as you have the date

thanks girls (and guys???) I thought a bank statement would be ok. Now just to think where I've put one from 5-6 months ago....... As you can see, I'm not too hot on paperwork :)

you need proof of purchase....a bank statement proves you purchased it so is as good as a recipt and dont let them tell you otherwise.
p.s, buy a spare 360 for when it breaks again...still cheaper than a ps3!

I have spare 360s....... but I can't go online with them wink wink, nudge nudge. Also have a couple of PS3s

if you cant find your bank statement go in to your bank and get one printed, although might cost you a small admin fee.

You not go online banking? I had a problem with an xbox and gamestation, lost my reciept manager in store told me it was no good, spoke to my bank who gave me exact time of transaction, spoke to head office they said it was suitable and to return to shop, manager searched for transaction. He found it after a lot of moaning, new xbox. (and it was 3 months out of warranty) SOGA helped me out there

Well I managed to get a replacement in the end. I was not very impressed at all at how CS dealt with me though. Luckily I phoned up the Sainsburys careline before I went to enquire about what I needed to bring back and got a reference number and was told over the phone that a replacement wasn't a problem. When I got in store the CS desk tried to fob me off with the old line that it wasn't their problem and that I should speak to Microsoft. The duty manager was then called when it was obvious I wasn't going anywhere who gave me the same line until I quoted the sales of goods act stating the bleeding obvious that MS didn't sell it to me YOU did, at which point his line changed and games consoles were exempt from being returned which funnily enough wasn't mentioned at all on the refund policy printed on their CS desk. This then led to a scuffle of words at which point I brought out my trumph card, the careline reference number I was given where I was told that a replacement wouldn't be an issue (hahahaha). So they called them up still adament that I wouldn't get a replacement and lo and behold, they were told what I was told and a replacement console appeared.

I am getting fed up of having to argue with stores about returning items and getting a replacement. And once they were told by the person at their careline department I wasn't given any apology. The CS woman even admitted after a cleverly worded question from myself that they would have fobbed me off till I left if I didn't have the careline reference number and that they had done so for a lot of customers coming in with broken PSPs, PS3s and 360s all weekend. NOT IMPRESSED.

Tis a shame I didn't have the forethought to put a brick in the box I brought back as they never checked it and would have been adequate repayment for the 'hassle, stress and personal emotional distress' that I suffered :)

don't you think if you would have given them the reference number in the 1st place that it would have saved you a lot of time and wasted energy ??

maybe..... but I wanted to see how they would act. I don't see why I should have to do all the work when it is their responsibility and duty to give me a replacement. If people are going to be difficult it is also quite fun to see people trying to squirm out of something when they know and know I know that they are wrong. If they want to fob me off I am quite happy to waste their time as I certainly wasn't leaving without a replacement 360.

Time to write that letter for some compensation.....

I think that the government should do checks to see if stores are aware of the Sale Of Goods Act, and try and fob customers off.

There should have some sort of fine system in place for those that are:

a. Unaware
b. Non compliant
