Anyone ever been to them, reading that they are 350 metres deep and have visitor passages of 3.5km (only 1% of the total passages) and can take 3 hours to view.

everything is hand carved from the rock salt there and that they are some beautiful architecture and statues all carved from the rock.

is it a good visit or is 3 hours to long once you see one room you have seen them all kind of thing.

It was Wielickzka I went to, was there 4 days, lovely place, cheap food & beer & gorgeous women, would say 4/5 days would be enough, go see Auchwitz too, very sobering place tho do it on the last day !

A group of us went to Krakow recently, half of us did the salt mines half of us did Auschwitz. I did Auschwitz but the ones who went to the salt mines were really underwhelmed by it all.

If you go to Krakow you really should see Auschwitz.

I went to Wieliczka and to be honest, I was a bit bored. It was just 'now we're in another chamber...look at this statue of [insert person here] that's made out of salt' over and over again. The only impressive bit was the chapel, that was pretty.
