Yes, we all know about the Note 7 but a report from a lawsuit in America names other phones which could get Samsung running for their lives.

The report also mentioned problems with the Galaxy S2, Galaxy Tab 2, Galaxy Tab 3, Galaxy S3, Galaxy S4 Active, Galaxy S5, Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge

I have one of those phones and to be honest, it does get pretty hot whilst charging so wouldn't surprise me!

Samsung’s Galaxy Note 7 is not the company’s only smartphone prone to dangerous explosions, according to a new lawsuit that says a Galaxy S6 Active shot out five-inch flames and left a user with “melted flesh”.

The complaint, which alleges Samsung knew for years its technology was hazardous, comes amid an embarrassing and expansive recall of 1.9m Galaxy Note 7 devices after it was revealed that the lithium ion battery was catching fire.

When sales and technology springs ahead of your native phone company, there's only one thing to do.

Lawsuit.....

Shouldn't get to the point of not being able to pick the damn thing up though - Should be better insulated i guess.

Urgh, Had the S5 a while back and now the S6 edge and and both get hot, maybe we'll just have to put up with it though - consumer demand for longer life battery and on the go lifestyles are pushing companies hard - although they shouldn't be exploding.

Even Apple are having their own issues

May be its due to the build quality of the phone due to which we feel it's more hot during charging. My S6 is fantastic. I can't complain.

Just got a note 5, 7 got picked up yesterday.

Shame, was such a great device.

Have the pristine box and my letter about being in the first 1000 to order and my order card with my precise number on. May be worth something down the line

Here, have some heat...

... oh not a deal is it :{

My s7 edge got incredibly hot when in use when I first got it. So much so that it would become unusable due to the heat and crash. I returned it for repair, but apparently nothing was done as the phone was 'fine'. Do wonder if they swapped something out without admitting to it, because it was well before the Note 7 was released and I've had no issues since.

Sounds like codswallop to me.

My s6 got incredibly hot last week for no apparent reason hadnt been using it for a few hours and was just in my bag so not even on charge. I turned it off and it did cool down but took a while. Hasnt happened since but is worrying.

I have had Samsung galaxy's for years - the only time i have ever had an over heating issue is when i have used a cheap rubbish plastic phone cover - i believe it always pays to buy the official or quality phone covers.

wow what a crock, bad journalism at its worst. The life expectancy on any lithium battery is not even 5 years, the S2 in use at most would last 3 until its battery begins to fail under poor charging conditions. Ill bet 90% of those on here claiming to be on their 4th battery bought them off ebay, notorious for fakes and poor quality copies, instead of directly from Samsung, and dont dare say other wise as they tend to be too costly to warrant a genuine one and 99.9% of users cant be bothered.
Apart from the 6, all the other devices have a replaceable battery, and normally as I have said, have been replaced with poor substitutes, or worse, chargers they got from poundland.
Please dont spout drivel just because the daily fail said its true, if you can be slightly arsed to, trawl the web for other manufacturers who had similar issues, including apple before spouting on about some idiot yank who is just another moron who wants to make a fast buck. This aint america, get over it. Check this out if you cant be arsed to google https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=apple+exploding+chargers&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&client=firefox-b&gfe_rd=cr&ei=XxgKWOiXCefW8ge0mKKgDg

This **** will happen as an ever more demanding public want smaller and faster, smart phone design is too far ahead of the batteries they need to drive them, but you lemmings keep the pace up.

I got the original S, S2 and S4 and only the S2 has had a battery change since it wont hold charge, the S and S4 still has the original batteries and still holding charge

My phone gets warm but hot that it cause me concern, last phone M8 with custom ROM and higher clocks ran hot.

Now with my S7E. The micro usb part of charger gets too hot to touch. Original charger and wire, I've mixed up wife's charger s6e with mine so not sure. And it is in fast charge. Turn off for over night charging. Difference of 1 hr 40min compared to 5hrs on slow from 5% ore less.

Sol

PS if it does get warm I'll run it under cold water......sorry older phone ppl you can't do that.

Weather change.. Give some carpol.

I have an s7 edge which over heats all the time. I turned off the fast charge on it and it was only a short term solution. Samsungs answer is for me to drive over an hour to one of their places for it to be "examined"

I had an S4 with a swollen battery but it was an early one for which I believe there was either a recall or voluntary exchange program, once I got a replacement it was fine for the two years or so that I had it. I'd love it if they recalled the S6 edge as I've cracked the screen (and it's apparently a b***h to change just the glass but a full lcd/digitizer is pretty pricey)!

I have the galaxy 7 edge and im having problems with it over heating when it was charging or when it was in my bag and when I'm using it, I'm taking it back , just not happy with it at all

Yeah, my S4 is on its second battery and it gets ridiculously hot sometimes. :(
#33
Just gets worse and worse for them doesnt it?
hardly surprising. Now at 30 days and counting for my Galaxy S7 edge to be returned after developing a screen fault. Their customer services are very poor and only have the excuse "we're waiting for parts". yet don't have a date for when the parts will actually arrive(!)
never, ever buying a Samsung phone again. Back to good ol' apple for me!

Yer, its nice for once that apple arent getting the brunt of it... AKA "bendgate" - apple got a lot of bad press for that, yet HTC one M8 was even worse for being susceptible for bending. Did HTC get bad press? nope.

One iphone exploded. I wonder if any HTCs or LGs have exploded? We definitely know Samsungs are prone to exploding.
#35
The phone gets hot because its fast-charging; it's just physics. You can disable fast charging if you want which should lengthen the overall life of the battery. Saying that, When I had my S3, the battery ended up getting extremely hot all the time. I took the cover off and noticed it had expanded loads. I have no doubt that it would have eventually exploded if I'd have kept using it. Didn't get a free replacement though...

No, this'll be the third instance of an exploding iPhone 7.

I remember the battery in my old Samsung Galaxy S3 swelled up to the extent where it popped the rear battery cover off, and it wasn't a aftermarket item either.
