Anyone got one of these? Opinions?

Lost my iphone the other week and insurance can't replace the 3G so are giving me cash.

Where's the cheapest place to buy, i have looked on amazon which is £300.18, and everywhere else looks around ~£350

My mates had 6 of them all faulty. Hopefully 7th will be solid. I think it's a good phone but he has had so many problems with models. I have the HTC desire, I can say I'm pretty happy with it and not feeling like I'm missing apples software at all.

Dam. Whats the faults been to do with?

I enjoyed my iPhone, probably mostly to do with the apps, which i can see most are on android apart from sleep talk recorder :(

Nice, thanks for link. I assume these are a reputable company.

As for the other comments, still got my contract till may next year :( Paying 35 a month for 2 years because of the iPhone.

Get the desire S instead.
From past experience HTC are of a far better build quality and have better support, both official and non.

I'm a Samsung fanboy...had Sammy phones for years and got the Galaxy just after launch. AWFUL phone IMHO and one of the slowest phones I've ever had...tons of problems (resets, jams, locks etc)

Got rid and got an iPhone (something I'd never really wanted but was impressed with OH's iPod touch) and tbh best decision it's a great phone (when jailbroken...vanilla sucks)

I'd personally not touch Galaxy again but maybe new one will be better

It was all software faults that would lock the screen black and you would have to hard reset, sometimes locking up under texting. I would stay away from Orange, they wouldn't offer him a different handset after 6 problems. I really think 2 or 3 times they tried to format the phone or offered him a refurbished one.

Being a proper samsung fanboy, you should really know about third party software from XDA developers to get the most out of of it. Stock FW was also fairly slow for me.

Highly recommend XDA developers to get the most out of it.

You wrongly assume I was using it on out of the box settings

I was updating FW after reading and being involved on the thread on AVF

#16
i know 3 people with a galaxy s and all have had NO problems at all
#17
Never had issues when I had mine. Custom made FW's are always better - again, XDA.
#18
i know 2 ppl with this phone and both love it and not had any probs with them..

Thanks for the replies. I think i will be going for the Samsung Galaxy S from the mostly positive comments.

On that Mobiles.co.uk how comes it has Samsung Galaxy S - £239.90 yet a refurbished one is £299.90. Do you think they have got these wrong?

I love my samsung galaxy s - which apart from an authorised upgrade to 2.2 is completely stock.

By far the best phone ive had - and pees all over the HTC desire and iphone, which ive had the misfortune to own.
#21
Yep love the galaxy s too, never had a problem with mine either, brought on 02 and unlocked for free now using t-mobile. I shall be getting the galaxy s 2 when its out! Best phone ive ever owned
#22
My boyfriend has one, he loves it, has had no problems but he's only had it a month. I might get one next month when my upgrade is due.

Just tried ordering from that mobiles.co.uk.

Got an e-mail about an hour later saying. Unfortunately it is out of stock and don't know when it will be back in so we cancelled your order.

Still says in stock on the site though. :|

Guess it will have to be the £300.18 amazon one, unless there's anywhere cheaper?
