Hi, Just let people know, If you suffer from major lag when using the galaxy s you should use z4root app to root your device and then install a one click lag fix. Both can be downloaded from the android market! It can easily be unrooted again. my galaxy s used to suffer from this issue alot but now it is THE FASTEST ANDROID DEVICE AVAILABLE WHICH HASNT BEEN OVERCOOKED, RUNNING 2.1 OR 2.2 ANDROID!!! My quadrant score is 2246 which is ranked 10th here http://smartphonebenchmarks.com . The only devices higher have all been overcooked! The un- lag fixed galaxy s running 2.2 only scores 900 odd

from the android market download the z4root app which roots your device. Next download the one click lag fix app from the android market, and install both on your device. You will then notice that the device runs really really fast! If there is any problems you can easily unroot your device if need be. Hope that makes it clearer!

It did take about 5 minutes as youve said. Have installed the lag app.... wasnt sure what was going on there either. Cant say I can see any difference! I already have Froyo on it!

LOL! I installed quadrant standard as well and my score is much higher than froyo without the lag fix! Also if you were using myplayer to watch iplayer, you may know that they got rid of the bbc iplayer in the new update however you can get the previous version here http://search.4shared.com/q/1/myplayer.apk
#8
also you can install paid apps for free using 4shared.com but first you have to install astro

Slow down a bit! You're losing me again! lol

I'm trying to install the player above, but nothing happening. Do you need to join? How are you getting the paid apps? (Other than usenet and transferring)

what are the risks in rooting my precious galaxy s?
there is no risk as such because you are using an app to do it and that can be reversed using the same said app!
#14

#15

#16
Silly question. My phone wont let me download apk files, how do i download them?

Yes there is a risk you can brick it :)

remember...these are NOT official or even perfect fixes...only hacks! They have known to cause some serious problems...They talk about quadrant score rocketing THREE times ! well this score does not mean anything much...and I doubt you see the difference

Note: Rooting may invalidate your warranty. ...

Now then...then now....do you really want to ....risk it for a biscuit :)

well i was suffering serious lag before but after doing what i said, and installing the lag fix, i have no lag at all. Furthermore the root can be uninstalled with one click, so if there is any problems get rid of the lag fix, and the warranty wont be invalid!.

if you use the apps i suggested then rooting and unrooting is easy! If you use the other methods on the xda developers forum, it will be harder!. I think that the lag issue is really bad and without the fix it took me around 10-15 seconds to opne a app and i have like 90 apps on my sgs

i am not out of depth........... however i agree there is some risk involved, but maybe i was bit quick to dismiss the risk earlier if you read his 121 page thread on this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=749495 it explains everything about this lag fix

I have android 2.2 on my galaxy s and can not get z4root on the market, im in australia.

you can still get z4root from 4shared.com, downlaod the apk and install it! it isnt available from the android market anymore
