We can't hide our disappointment in the Samsung Galaxy Tab. It had the potential to deliver a serious blow to Apple's iPad sales. But in truth, the Galaxy Tab is no match for the iPad. It's nowhere near as smooth, it's not as polished and remarkably, it's not even a match when it comes to value for money.

If portability and Android are your main concern, the Galaxy Tab is certainly a handy gadget to have in your geeky arsenal. But for £530, we were expecting a hell of a lot more.

I'm so annoyed about this..

I wanted the Galaxy Tab to be really good, i've be holding off purchasing an iPad until Android tablets had started popping up.. As i still think £400 is a little to much for a tablet... This was the one i was banking on :/

I'm of the same opinion of Techradar, a 16GB wifi only version which was priced £100-£200 or so under the iPad version would be fantastic.. I'd probabley snap it up straight away.

Frustrated.

As soon as they announced the £530 price point it was doomed IMO. Its never going to be a "gucci" as an apple so they needed to take the price down at least £100. There will be an Android tab that get it right but there doesn't seem to be one at the moment :(

I just want one company to do it right and price it realistically

Samsung Galaxy Tab looked like the best of the bunch, the price point pretty much put me off buying the device.. Although i still wanted to see what the reviews said, as if it was the biggest revolution since peanut butter sandwichs.. It might be worth considering

Although it still really should be packing a top end 5/8mp camera, massive OS refinements so Froyo fits well in tablet form, smooth interaction and a Super AMOLED screen to justify the price.

They seem to be doing a hell of allot PR wise for this

I'm not sure what Samsung expect in terms of sales, i just can't see it selling in the type of volume a company like them would expect.

I'm interested to see what kind of subsidized pricing comes out from the networks.

It's hardly Apple Fanboyism

I want a really good Android based tablet, i've put off buying the iPad for that very reason.. Waiting to see what eventually comes out.. I'm even of the opinion (while owning an iPhone 4) - that the HTC Desire is a better phone if not for the fact the Marketplace still needs more quality applications. My opinions on this are pretty clear within the HTC Desire thread.

End of the day, Android is going to rip Apple apart if they continue how they are.

Now go onto another thread, there are so many opportunities to lie about your wealth elsewhere that you're missing out on.

Can't stand apple to be honest. Unfortunately they have set the price for tablets and other companies are being just as greedy.

As said before though..
I highly doubt these will remain at this price for long.

Samsung are hardly a premium brand so to launch a tablet with Android at this price is just ridiculous on their part.

You are as reliable as old faithful. Bite, essay and insult. ROTFLMAO.

BTW I dont lie about my wealth. (Green is a nice colour don't ya think!)

iPads and Galaxy Tabs are both a waste of space. They are simply bigger versions of the phones. (I have both BTW in case you didnt know) :D The Galaxy pees all over the iphone in my opinion and the desire is flawed because of the screen isnt readible in sunlight. (I sent my one back for that reason.)

As others have said, if the pricing was different, I might consider one. But its not worth shelling out twice for the same thing thats a little bit bigger. I might love spending money, but I'm not stupid.

I will always argue my point, i'm quite happy being that predictable :). I enjoy debate, always will.

I wonder if you're as content, since baiting, talking about your new gas fire or denigrate others based on their financial situation seems to be the only way you can occupy your time. Quite an insecure existence. Stuff a sock down there in future, may be more effective.

Haven't they delivered your Samsung Galaxy yet then?

Yet another iPhone 4 owner had a play with mine yesterday (fnar fnar) and agreed it was superior to their apple product. I wished I'd got some sort of referral thing going for it! demo's on mine have defiantly gained sales. I'm still as happy with mine now as the day I got it.

if HTC did a tablet with a pixel Q screen i'd snap it up. I'd even pay £540 for it. :)

Aren't most holding back until gingerbread is released. Might put 300 aside until the new year when a decent one gets released.

Dead in the water, businessmen only, if that.

Folio could maybe deliver, and Dells future Looking Glass tablets deliver more (hopefully).

I'm not fond of the iShite, but credit must be given where credit is due. iPad as far as hardware goes is pretty sweet (except no memory card and crappy apple only connector!).

But at £500 odd quid it's just not worth it! So the Galaxy tab with a 7" screen and the same price, is crap. I knew from the moment I read it was a 7" screen it was going to be ****.

Personally i'm waiting for the Advent Nvidia Tegra tablet. £250 with a 10.1" screen and good hardware. Half the price of the iPad and so much more potential, smack ubunutu or meego on it and away we go.

Perfect.

EDIT:

In addition the one to look out for is Notion Inks Adam tablet - with a Pixel Qi screen, if its cheaper than the ipad it'll be one I'm going to go for.
