Plus the contract that goes with it. Likely to work out at the same price in the end.

Archos 101 and Advent Vega both look okay but the Archos is reportedly quite plasticky and we won't know if the advent is any good until it's either released or someone gets hold of a preview unit. I don't hold out much hope as all other budget Android tablets have been terrible.

Here's hoping though.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab would need to be sub £300 for me to consider it.

iPad is leagues ahead in the applications department, not just by catelogue but also in compatibility. From what i've read, applications not optimized will appear at their native size.. With no ability to zoom or extend to fit the screen...

I was really excited by this when it was first announced... Until it hits between £250-£300 i cant see the point, at £530 for the 16GB/Wifi/3G its something that i can't help think "Well, if i'm sending that much money.. May aswell get an iPad 16GB/Wifi/3G for £529".

It's quite funny seeing the comments on their Facebook page whenever they post something Tab related, every one is slating them for how high the price is. Either that or how poor their support has been for updating revisions of Android for their phones.

The iPad had hardly any apps either till they were ported.

Least on the iPad you can extend apps not optimized to fit the screen.

How ludacris is it going to be using an application appearing on the tab in the same dimensions it does on your phone.

People complained about the price of the iPad when it was released (even me...), what on earth are Samsung thinking. It's like trying to sell a VW Passat for the same price as a Ferrari. Until the marketplace is massivelly supported for tablets, it can't hope to compete being at the same price.

Only way they're going to sell the bloody thing is subsidized pricing through networks

Apple fanboy much?
It's not always about the apps you know? There are other things you can do, and just look at the specifications of this compared to other tablets.

the advent vega is looking like the baby for me - supposed to be in stores from the 1st of Nov so will know more then.

Just a bit concerned about the lack of marketplace at launch but it's supposed to be coming when gingerbread is realeased - this is the area I really don't know anything about so I'm gonna have to do some research.

edit this is the full spec for the vega.

Still going to give it a couple of days with the nerds before I buy just in case it turns out to be a complete turkey.
