Has anybody who bought one of these TV'S from Dixon's had problems with the picture breaking up and freezing.

Mine arrived last Tuesday, and since then, have had a problem with some of the channel's ie ITV and chanell's 4 and 5. I have a Sagem freeview box with harddrive, and if i access the channel's through that there is no break up or freezing.

Hiya.
I have a samsung TV, just checking the make now, and I have a problem with channel 3 being really fuzzy. We can't even tune in a freeview box.
It's a SAMSUNG LE32R83BX LCD from Dixons. Ordered on 4th December, we paid £446.49 and we can't watch many channels!! It's quite upsetting really, I really must phone up and complain. Just seen that the same one's on there for £419.00 and when we ordered it before I managed to get 5% discount off it too!! I'm really upset now!!

Hiya,
I've just checked the Dixons website, this is what it says about returns-

"Faulty goods
The following are guidelines. Wherever possible we will respond to your individual circumstances.

If there is a fault with your product within 12 months of delivery (or other defect with your order), we will normally offer a prompt repair, exchange or refund. You will always have the option of an exchange or refund if the fault occurs within 28 days of delivery. In all cases we reserve the right to inspect the product and verify the fault.

To qualify for a refund or exchange the product must be:

in otherwise "as new" condition; and
complete with any accessories and free gifts offered with it and, if possible, the original box and packaging.
Please phone Aftersales on 0844 561 1111 (9am to 6pm Monday to Saturday, Sunday closed). If a fault occurs while you are abroad, please contact us after you return to the UK.

This promise does not cover faults caused by accident, neglect, misuse or normal wear and tear. For consumable items (e.g. non-rechargeable batteries, camera films, ink cartridges etc) the guarantee period is three months from delivery.

If a pre-recorded videotape, DVD, CD, minidisc or other software is faulty under guarantee we will happily exchange it for the same title or offer a refund.

Any refund due to a fault or other defect will include a refund of the applicable delivery charge. We will also pay for our costs of collecting goods for replacement or refund. Replacement goods are sent by standard delivery only (i.e. premium services are not available)."

03bintls- Did you get yours from Dixons too?

Samsungs are terrible for freeview, I have an older model which is fine for watching but sometimes when changing channel fast. i.e pressing a direction more than once in a second it freezes and needs power cable pulled out for a second.

If you do a google search its common for the freeview.

Mine has a bit of "ghosting" at times too but only on freeview.

No, I ended up getting mine from PC World after they agreed to match Dixons price!

I thought Samsung's were supposed to be good, but after looking on here I'm a bit peed off that we're all having the same problems. I'm going to ring Dixons tomorrow and see if I can exchange for a different make.

I have a sneaky feeling that will need some persuasion!

I know, but you haven't heard me when I get started lol. They'll hopefully just agree to shut me up and get me off the phone, and if not, I'll get my mom onto them- she's like a little bulldog lol.

Samsungs are fantastic, dont get rid of it, Samsung are Id say amongst the top 3 makers of HDTV's considering Sony used their screens for a while!

Nowt wrong with a Samsung apart from that.

Hahaha, I may have to bear you in mind when I next have a problem then...you could come in very useful ;-)

lol. If I've got a problem, I usually end up letting rip. But then I learnt from a pro! Anyway, ryouga, do you work for Samsung?! lol. It depends if they can fix the fuzzy channel 3 and get my freeview box working. My son's having cbeebies withdrawal!! (So am I- there's only so many times you can watch Shrek happily...)
Anyway, I must be off as I've got to be up early, I'll update and let you know how I get on with the Dixons argument!!!

Night all xxx

Nah just after owing 2 ****** brands(Goodmans and JMC I think) saw a massive difference in quality and picture.

It may not be the television in a way, could be signal and If itv/channel 3 is fuzzy it cant be as digital doesnt work that way, unless you mean the pic is blocky and breaking up which sounds more like signal strength or a misplaced aerial

BTW its not the box its the software inside the box, or the chips.

More than likely what ryouga says is true, from what you are describing it sounds like you have a signal problem. Most times a signal booster can help a little or it may just be the fact your aerial isnt upto scratch. Certainly with the number I sold at Pc World over christmass not one has come back (in my store we sold roughly a few hundred of them) so reliability wise they are excellent! Sony still use Samsung/Sharp screens in their Tv's.
