samsung netbooks are easily upgraded to 2gb in the single slot they do have, a simple unscrew, unclip and click the new stick of ram in and close it back up :) i have the n110 and i would like to advise you to take the n110, its like the nc10 but with all the little things that were wrong, are now corrected in the n110. n110 also have a superior 9hr battery life, but under normal wifi use i can get 6-8hrs :D vista shouldnt be a problem with 2gb of ram, but i reccomend 7 as its much faster to run that vista and well still has the visually pleasing aspects of vista. if you decide not to go for the slightly more expensive n110, the nc10 is still an awesome choice. i dont have a proper use for my netbook yet, but with sixth form at leicester grammar looming ever closer, it'll have a good daily use to and from school, and during school :D

No, not using 3g.
I'm using the standard installed XP home which suits my needs and is plenty fast enough.
I was considering upgrading to 2gig of memory as it's dirt cheap, but in all honesty I've had no need to as everything runs fine (I usually have several explorer windows open, winamp running and possibly word/excel etc)

Has been fine watching standard definition DivX files on.
I've not tried high definition video files but seemed to recall mixed reviews from users (the 2gig may be of use here thou)

Plays a good selection of older games as well, like GTA: Vice City!!

Hi, I've got an NC10, owned it since Jan/Feb this year and love it. I had initially purchased it thinking that I would still maybe buy a full size laptop to replace an old ageing HP laptop I owned - in the end I never needed to do so as the NC10 seems perfectly adequate for my own personal needs and acts as my household laptop.

I can't comment on the Vista stuff, as I've no real desire to change it from XP, also I have seen the odd person on the web saying that the 2GB upgrade isn't really neccassary as the effect on the performance is minimal - so I haven't bothered with it either, maybe it only helps if you have Vista on it?

I can only really find minor annoyances/faults with it tbh, my thoughts include: the trackpad does take some getting used to as it is rather shallow in depth, the trackpad scroll I find very hit and miss - and as it's so small it's very easy to alter the screen size(screen zooms in and out like an iPod Touch/iPhone requiring a pinch of the fingers across the trackpad). The battery life is overstated - I'm not complaining, I'm just saying that you won't get anywhere near 7.5 hrs even if you try. With moderate usage I get around 4-5 hrs out of it which is still good for a netbook - remembering that it needs to be on maximum performance setting to smoothly play a video, open and close windows sharply....or be able to view the screen anywhere that's moderately well lit - at least that's what I find.

Was £300 very well spent in my case, got yourself a lovely gift coming.

well lucky you, will be a great little freebie gift you get, see if you can get a n110 out of them if not the nc10 is still much better than the standard netbooks out there so still a great gift. i just dont get how they can afford to give each student a netbook with unlimited orange 3g

I don't understand either mate, but i am doing lol, even the people doing SPORTS COURSES ! :L i know they need to do assignments but come on :L they get enough fun with they're trips and sporting day outs.

I will get some pics up when i get it, i know that it has the pouch etc but this might be standard ? :S

They are ok, but if you are going to be paying NC10 money, I would go for a better spec laptop.

I think NETbooks shoule be a cheap alternative to a laptop. Anyone who may pay more that £170 for a netbook needs to rethink.

My opinion only..

congrats anyway mate, my school hopped locations last year also, they built a 65M school and sports like 10miles away from the original location, i guess they afford it all since its a independant private school...shame no free netbooks here lol. and yes portability is a great thing, even fi your paying nc10/n110 money. it is literally on the top end of the netbooks until you reach the ultra portable normal laptops but those hit the £1200 mark and so on. n110 is £330 but i can damn well see why its worth it :D
