our daughter is two now so really getting into the whole santa thing. we took her to meet santa at harrods, was fab. he told her he'll use magic dust to get down the chimney pot so we gonna sprinkle a little glitter, and move some logs to look like he came down thechimney. and ive told her ill try to get a picture of him (daddy gonna dress up). and santa has been magicing natural liquice into her advent train each evening, as long as she been good girl

my questions are:

what do u leave out for santa and the reindeer and what other things do u all tell ur kids bout santa

we bake cakes and biscuits and leave them for santa with brandy and carrots and water for the reindeers

i leave a mince pie for santa, and 9 carrots for all of the reindeer. also leave some ribena (kids choice) for santa, in case he's thirsty

i also make a stencil cut out of my shoe, then sprinkle some flour/glitter mix, leaving footprints outside their rooms. looks magical on Christmas morning!!!

We leave a mince pie, carrots and drambuie! Also I mix glitter with oats and the kids put it on the path for the reindeer 9the glitter so it sparkles and they can see it from the sky. We made some for all the kids at school last year and put it in cellophane bags tied with ribbon.

When we were young we had a glass of milk, cookie and a carrot.

Nowadays a 1/2 bottle of Bailys, 6 Corona & a pack of Jaffa Cakes.

I don't have any kids though!

Would love to do that, we usually leave carrots for the reindeer, glitter, homemade biscuits and chocolate cake, and a flask of coffee. ( Thats the two year olds idea, we used to leave him milk but she was worried he might get cold and need coffee to warm up!)

Definitely gonna do the oats with glitter thing though, they would love that. Being pretty much finished shopping I am loving having more time to do this sort of stuff! :)

I used to leave soya milk (I am allergic to milk) out, since I knew that neither of my parents would drink it. My parents still moan about that one because they had to drink it because you can tell if its just been thrown away!

We leave a glass of milk (can't drink and drive!!) and cake (he doesn't like mince pies in our house!!) for Santa and a bowl of water and carrot for Rudolph. Our eldest daughter is now 7½ and the last 2 years has drawn him a picture, the first year she was cross because Santa didn't take it with him, we told her that he probably didn't realise that he was supposed to take it with him !?! but will have seen it, last year she wrote on the bottom "don't forget to take the picture this year" and this year she wrote in her letter to Santa that she would draw him a picture again so don't forget to take it - I think he's got the message now.

Our youngest is 3½ so we're looking forward to an exciting christmas this year. We tell them both that other people buy presents for each other but Santa brings some special presents that they've asked for, but they shouldn't expect to get everything on their list, and they seem quite happy with this.

One thing we are planning to do this year, and your 2yr old is probably a bit young, but we always watch Polar Express on Christmas Eve (if you haven't seen it you HAVE to buy it, it's wonderful) and there's a bell at the end from Santa that you can only hear ring if you still believe so we are going to buy a small bell that matches the one in the film and pretend we can't hear the ring. This was recommended to us as our 7½yr old can't have too many more years of believing so it will help her a bit - and it's really sweet.

Enjoy your christmas, it's so cute as your kids grow up.

Oh we did that last year and they used it as an excuse to stay up later " Santa is in Africa so it will take him ages to get here"

Lol, because milk leaves a mark on the top of the glass where you are drinking it from, it just looks different when its thrown down the sink
