Hi guys,

I'm looking for a sat nav around the £100 mark.

I don't know much about sat navs but i'd like to have audio speed camera warnings. Are there any which have this included or do I always have to buy a subscription for this ?

I'm open to suggestions really

Many thanks

Dave

The Navman F10 is going for under £80 now, may be good for you.

search the threads - tomtom ones are £100 and Garmin nuvis less. Both can add maps 'free' if you search for a bit. Tomtom has best software, Garmin has better maps but both very good (please no 'my tomtom is better than your garmin replies).

Oh, and the Garmin speed camera warning is much better - warns once then if you continue above limit get more agitated the closer you get. Best you can do with TomTom is 2 warnings (using different database downloads from pocketgps).

Thanks i'll check out some of those,

does anyone know which ones give an audio speed camera warning ?, I've heard some only show them up on the map rather than warning you ?

If you can follow instructions and are ok with computers then look at the £60 navigo from ebuyer, there are lots of people on here that have put tomtom and others on it. It also has lots of other forum support.

Looks like it's narrowed to either the garmin 300t or 200

or the tomtom one explore

any commendations or condemnations ?

The navman F20 is superb, I never had any problems with it. It has full postcode search and speed camera alerts and announces the name of the road you need to turn onto ( as opposed to just saying "take the 3rd exit", it will say "take the 3rd exit onto the A34" for example ). You can get it for under £100 now. I had mine stolen :x, and with my new job I got a Garmin Nuvi 310 which was £250 and I can't get on with it at all, I wish I could have my F20 back!!!!

Yes ,that was a good buy .I bought the 4.3" version ,hacked the registry and put TomTom6 ,Igo ,Miomap3.3 and Turbo Dog all on the same card . I only did this for a comparison test ,as I've used TomTom for years on my PDA & phones , but I wanted to see what the others were like .Miomap is astounding and I'm starting to prefer this to TomTom ,give the supplied satnav software a miss .Turbo Dog is rubbish .

I have the Navman F20, I love it and it has audio warnings for speed cameras!

is the f10 better than the f20?

anyone?

The F10 is the 'simplist' of the F series but has the software/maps of the 'S' series. It's called the F10 because it's a simplified version of the F20, though coming out later.

Argos my advertise the F20 but it's likely you get the F10 from what I've heard. They may notify you of this before hand, else you can return if you're not satisfied.

The S90 does 'text to speech' which is the 'Turn right into Joe Bloggs Road", etc.
