Does anyone know how to switch SATA drive from AHCI to IDE...

as i want to install windows xp on my laptop...

your help would be greatly appreciated..

Wrong section and you can do this from the bios!

as above, if not in he bios you might be able to slipstream the needed drivers either manually or with something like nlite. For AHCI you may also want to slipstream sp3 IIRC

Just change it in the bios, why not just keep AHCI though, XP should support it with SP3 and the correct drivers.

It does but they may not have access to a floppy at the f6 prompt for 3rd party drivers. Without slipstreaming it as mentioned above.

Or approach it this way once you have installed xp in ide emulation mode switch back to AHCI once reading how to do it
