I got a quote to service my Mercedes A150 and it came up to about £250!! :-O
So I asked the lady what if I bring my own oil for the oil change??

£70 off!!!!!!!!!!!! :-D

So i went to Halfords and bought 5L of oil for £20 and gave it to Mercedes when my car went in!!!

And saved £50!!!!

This was done over the phone to Mercedes Leicester, but I'm pretty sure other Mercedes dealerships will do this for you!

Can't go wrong!! Hope this helps! :-)

Or just take it to another garage and save £100 plus.

And much less shamefull

I'm guessing not too many Merc owners hang about this bargain hunting forum.

I'm in a similar position, got a toyota and it's in excess of £220 for a service, but to maintain my service book i have to go to a registered garage... i did try arnold clark and kwick fit who both say they'll do a service for a car with an engine smaller than a 1.6 for £99... until you tell them it's less than 3 years old and they know it's for the service book!!!

I admire your b**ls... takes a bit of courage and now i just might try the same with toyota ;-)

You wont have a full service history if you take it to another garage!

What on earth do you mean that you have to go to a "registered" garage to maintain your service book? Any garage can service your car, even if it is within the warranty period and the manufacturer has to honour the warranty, the only caveat is that it will have to be serviced to their specification making sure all fluids and filters meet their spec too.

Having "Full Mercedes Service History" is different to having just FSH.

Anyway, moving this to misc as it's more a tip than a deal :)

Yep - You dont need to take it to an official dealer, as long as the dealer uses proper parts, the warranty will still be valid.

It looks better when you sell the car if it has a

FULL MERCEDES SERVICE HISTORY

but you wont make £100s extra for having it when selling the car. Will be just as gd using a third party garage.

voted HOT as £70 off for using your own oil is a bargain considering i can get any oil for free anyway

I do ... and I use an independent for servicing still have the book stamped - they only use genuine MB parts , saves 1/3 on main dealer servicing and the quality of workmanship is twice as good.

Main Dealers = Main Stealers.

with the credit crunch in full swing i hope these dealers are struggling just as joe public is!

coincidentally the chief exec at the firm my friend works in, is no longer pulling up in his Merc S Class!
but instead he is coming to work in his wifes mazda 6!

apparently two reasons my friends gave me the mazda is more reliable, but he also said its prob to make himself less guilty for the 10's he is to make redundent shortly
