...And I'm sold! It was showing Monsters VS Aliens (Rubbish movie I know) and it was cool! I didn't think I'd like it before the demo as I thought it was going to be gimmicky and lame but now I'm seriously considering buying one when it gets a tad cheaper...What do you guys think?

I think you should sell a few because your eyes are becoming square (or rectangular at least!)

Sky TV are meant to be bringing out a dedicated 3d channel with in a year, personally as with every new technology it's best to wait until the format is finalised, OLED tvs have only recently come out and already the first generation of which aren't 3d compatible so again I'd say wait.

I see it as a massive gimmick but have admittedly never experienced one. When I do maybe i'll change my opinions but if you have to wear stupid glasses every time you sit down to watch it, there's no way i'll get one - is that the case?

Monsters Vs Aliens would be a Samsung I reckon as that is the movie they have rights to distribute...they are good as they have a 2d replicator creating fake 3d however...the only do 3d in 720p the panasonic 3d which is currently in comets showing live 3d French open tennis which looks amazing is broadcast in 1080p its the only one the colours and 3d effect is truly sublime IMHO. Also with Panasonic you get 2 free sets of glasses and Samsung you don't but you can get one free I believe via redemption but they work out the same price!! Panasonic is much better build quality and uses only there own parts no mix and match just high quality product...However I would not buy any for quite some time as there are only 4 3d films available for purchase at present Coraline Monsters Vs Aliens Ice Age and one other? With only 6 in the pipeline for the foreseeable future...I personally will wait one year till there is a second or 3rd generation 3DTV to be launched as that will iron out any problems offer a better price and add some cool additions im sure!!

No, might have been 2k... I'll check the next time or ask the wife tomorrow, she'll remember, she never forgets when she nags at me for spending too much on electrical gadgetry!

Yup, that'll be it!

Don't wanna sound like a noob but is a 3DTV actually just a 'normal' tv but with newer '3D' software or does it have something physically different to a regular TV, like double layered glass r something?!?!

can't believe people are talking about spending two grand on a telly

for half that you could buy a non-3D of the same size, a 360, and a ps3

Got all of those already...:whistling: (Tell al lie, my main telly is only 40")
#16
have you seen it in the cinema? As i thought that was pants , if so any difference?

I personally thought it looked sharper than in the movies, the background effects were very good, maybe the 'popping out' effects were not quite as good as in the local multiplex but it was still very cool to see it in action!

Yus, and they still look stuuuupid. My only concern is if wearing them a long time will give me a headache...Umm.

whats the point - how many programmes are made in 3d to be worth buying it?
#23
3d TVs - another technological nightmare, it's pretty obvious that every company wants a piece of the 3d action, but noone is agreeing on what type of 3d viewing experience is best, you can get glasses which work for Panasonic but not Samsung and Samsung ones which don't work with Panasonic (admittedly they do but you have to have the glasses on upside down for them to work (WTF?)), there are companies bringing out 3d TVs without the glasses but can strain you eyes, 3d TVs which are actually 3d in design, 3d TVs for different types of TVs, then there picture frames, phones, and anything else with a screen all wanting to cash in on this cash cow.

I'm not saying that 3d isn't the future of the TV or mulimedia or that it doesn't look awesome (used one before), but there needs to be a proven experience which is multi-platformal for it to take off - we don't want another Blu-Ray HDDVD fiasco again as the only people losing out at the end of the day is the consumers.

Blurry?

Seriously, if it was blurry, you either need glasses or the show you were watching was out of focus on the big screen.

Is this just the same red/green 3d from years back?

Mild colourvision issues have always made it impossible for me to get any kind of 3d effect off this system.

Nah mate, that system is way old, get with the times! :-D:p

These ones have shutters in the lenses which turn on and off very fast to show a 3d image.

My cousin bought the Samsung 46", cost approx £2000, I think it's great, geeky classes or not :-D

And it changes EVERYTHING into 3d, you can sit and watch Eastenders in 3d :-D

Nope got perfect vision - seen christmas carol and avatar in 3d and both i felt they were blurry and nothing special - is there a set distance to sit at the cinema?

ATM - hd is barely the norm for programming i dont see it lifting off for at least 5 years before it gets into the mainstream -

can't think of a thing worse than watching Eastenders, let alone in 3d! Everyone in that show is so fugly! Whereas 3d smut movies sounds very promising!
