Hello,.

I paid someone for an xbox on here and they have not been back on since the 16th. I have spoke to one of the mods but it looks like i have been scammed.
Has anyone been scammed like this? I am not sur4 what i should do. Who would i report it to? what is my chances of getting any money back. I know it was a BT rather than paypal so i dont think i can get anything back.

Thanks in advance.

Have you tried ringing them??
#2
if you paid via paypal gift there really is no chance of getting your money back through them. I think the most hukd can do is ban the person in question although I'm not sure if that happens.
#3
who was the seller? have you checked his feedback does he have many negs?

I've had a look at the seller and 2 of his items have been locked pending validity on his pictures, hopefully a mod will be able to help with this one.

Good luck!

yeah, just ring them up. I trust you followed the fs/ft guidelines...........

tbh, that had scam written all over it. Brand new member with hardly any posts and only 1 feedback. Especially considering the 1 feedback was for an xbox controller taken from his brand new xbox purchase. And then he was selling it 2 weeks later and claiming it was 7 months old. Just didnt add up.

Also didn't reply on the thread. You might wanna warn the other guy incase the seller tells him its not been sold and says he can have it taking away £65

Thats the problem with dealing on here you have to be REALLY careful - the user has 1 feedback so it could be just a case of the guy not being on

Has anyone been scammed like this?

One or two

nobody who has ever followed the FS/FT rules has ever been scammed on here to my knowledge

Got scammed on here in June, Guy called Sam Thorley. Paid for an Xbox360 via BT and never heard anything back or recieved the xbox I paid for. Took him to court, he got a 'warning' despite several other people taking him to court for the same thing and I got told there was no way he would have to refund me, resulting in a complete lack of confidence in the justice system. There are some pr*cks out there. Sorry to hear about this mate, hope it gets sorted out and results in a better outcome than mine did.

Third time lucky - have you tried ringing him?

You should also have his address so I suggest you invest in some big mates and some baseball bats.

You need to speak with your Bank. Not too sure if they can reverse the bank transfer.
#17
Ok cool I will try them first thing in the morning.

I just wondered if it was a police matter.

Unfortunately with the ( lack of ) information you have I doubt
the police could do anything even if they wanted too.
Your best bet is try your bank i think......
Good luck

In this thread he reckoned he posted first to two people,so maybe trying messaging them and see if he did, they might have contact details,in one thread he said he was based in Essex.

I'm sorry but did you really expect to get a xbox for £65?

Inc all that extra stuff and delivery

If it's too good to be true it generally is, Just do basic price break down.

20 gig hdd around £20
controller Around £13
Official Microsoft Plug and Play Kit around £6
delivery £7
Official Microsoft VGA HD Cable around £9
Official Microsoft AV Cable this would be a component one due to the age so £5

So you get a xbox for a grand total of £5

Come on you must be having a laugh.

On behalf of the op I would just like to thank you for all your help.
I am sure that this will help get the money back, make the op feel better
and help the op forget how mistakes were made in this transaction.
Thank again :whistling:

Irrevelvant post. He knows he's been scammed, we know he's been scammed. He's probably embarrassed and extremely pee'd off. What he needs to hear is advice going forward, so if you can, help him out.

Well it may help people to use their head in future, and thinking before going ahead with a deal.

I'm sure we all know the chances of the original poster getting his money back are slim to zero.

About the only thing he can do is report it to the police, for what good that will do.

Even with 20+ people reporting the same person, they may only just be bothered looking into it.

There was recently a massive thread on the av forums, about a guy who was conning quite a few a week, every week. And there were having a hard time getting the police doing anything.

i got scammed buying a psp once on here, lost about £65, just gotta live wid it.

There isn't much you or the mods can do tbh.

Yeh Simon nice one. If you've got nothing helpful to say keep it to yourself. I just figured you could get them cheap at the moment as this guy sold his from right undr my nose. http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/557583/xbox-360-premium-60gb-model-sold-me

I had used this site a few times and just stupidly decided to trust people. I know its the individuals and not the site but i will find it hard to buy from someone uless i am collecting from here now.

The guys name is Derek perkins and I have his account number and sort code which i might post on here so hopefully people will check him out before they send money. (maybe someone can scam him too)

I am greatful to those who have helped me.

Thanks again

take it as a cost to learn. At least now we know you will never be scammed like this again, possibly saving you more money than this.
