not really opposed to uniforms - even though they cost a fortune

dd lost her blazer so had to order a new one

so rang up on monday £25 + £4 delivery

missed the damn citilink delivery so made a 20 mile round journey

to pick up from depot -

came home - opened - arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

i am bloody fuming!!

will go up to see headmaster tomorrow to claim travelling time and postage

see pic below - apologies for quality - suits the blazer!!

Why on earth do you think you have any right to claim off the school....surely you should claim off the supplier.

the school requires all pupils to wear them - and redirects us to this mickey mouse company - i didnt go there by choice
banned#11
so you claim from the Micky mouse company then and not the school
#12
good point sass - (_;)

trog - my dd wants to wear it she thinks its hilarious

i do to actually but i am shattered and didnt need trek to pick up
#13
i am sure they will replace it like any other company would can't really expect travel costs as its not their fault you weren't in for the delivery or able to arrange another delivery
#14
Have you ever heard of any other parents suffering the same upside down badge?
If not, sounds more like a mistake as opposed to a mickey mouse company, sorry.
Plus, the headmaster won't help you, if you missed the courier, how's it the schools fault?
The school outsourcing mandatory uniform isn't ideal but i think this just reads to me as the straw and camel for you today, try and have a think, ring the supplier tomorrow, then, if no joy, speak with the school.
I just think you got unlucky.......

lol, tell her to stand on her head for assembly and no-one will notice X)..........no seriously i agree with you , uniforms cost a fortune ( especially high school ones , blazers etc) i dont blame you for being annoyed

That looks like it's inside, where the label usually is. Or is it the badge sewn onto the breast pocket?

When i was in school, we bought the blazer from anywhere and bought the badge off the school.
#17
our schools do like a recyle scheme where they sell on uniforms which have been donated from pupils who have left and all sold donations go into school fund it has been a really good scheme so far, as it can be expensive especially for more than one child in the family!

times have changed now unfortunatly and a lot of schools have to buy from certain suppliers

i asked school to do this and was told they might - they didnt

went for ready made as they get % of takings!!

is it actually upside down or is it the way the blazer is folded in the bag? i.e have you taken it out and held it up

LOL if it is the latter

I am totally against school uniform and all it stands for.

However at the very least if you are expected to purchase it, the school should supply it at reasonable cost without a delivery charge.

This supplier has a monopoly and as such how do parents know it is not just fleecing them as a captive market inorder to maximum profit.

yeah - you should open it at least..
it's not like they aren't going to replace because it's been opened if the badge is upside down

I support school uniforms, however, i agree with you on the availability of the uniform. Many schools are now selling embroidered t-shirts, jumpers and more, and charging £10 or more each, when you can get a 3 pack of normal polo shirts for £1`

On the point of uniforms, my primary school had a non compulsary uniform, yet everyone still wore it.

the main pieces of my sons school uniform cost me over £200 through the school but i look at it as money well spent - all the kids look the same - there is no competition in the kids as in who has the best/most expensive clothes on - no one is ridiculed for not having designer clothing. As to your issue it is between you are the company that sent you the items but I would let the school know of the issue as this may not be the only case of it and it may sway them to get a different supplier for next year

Kids will pick on anything, if the other kids can afford iPhones and they cant, schoolbags, designer shoes, expensive football boots for PE.
Any uniform cant include absolutely everything and there will be differences which kids pick up on.

oh noz.

but i diont think its the schools fault tbh.

also 25quid isnt that steep for a school blazer. my 7 year olds is £58!

personally think uniforms are fab.... no wondering what to make them wear and they all look the same so no competition

update - rang the company - the dear little lad on customer service said " well cant believe that" - numptyj - is this were you work! :D

oops wrong thing to say to me at 8.30a.m after 2 sisters fight over bathroom - hair straighteners - what music goes on!!

i jumped on it - and to add insult to injury he said if I want quick replacement pay another £25 - when the australian version is returned they will refund me - that is when my voice went deep - so vvery very deep ... so after my request/demands - new one getting sent out next day dellivery - personally checked by Simon (numptyj) - carrier picking ozzie one up this afternoon ...waiting to see if they honour my request of a free school jumper as a gesture of goodwill

Sounds like a bit of an aptitude test for the parents.
Checking to see if they will go along with it without complaining.
Well done you.
Seems a complete rip off.

blimey, I had to sew my school badge on my blazer, kids meh!

£58 for one of the most useless pieces of clothing a child could possibly have. Completely impractical for any activity and giving no warmth or protection from weather. For that price you could buy a good winter coat that they could wear to school and elsewhere.

Got nothing to do with kids Alfonse. Most schools don't supply separate badges anymore. Too easy for parents to shop around for cheap clothing.

£25? Oh you poor thing.

Its disgraceful when schools make the children go to school in poor quality clothing. I bet you're none too impressed either I would imagine!

Ok I havent got kids but not everyone can afford to spend out an extra £25 or so for a poor quality item that must be worn to school. Especially if there is more than one child.
When I was young money was very tight. I am not kidding when I say I used to do a paper round and the money from that used to go towards essentials, not extras. (not kidding).
