This is gonna be expensive. Does look good spec wise though.

Just saw the video, spec wise looks great. Let's see what price tag it comes with. also Xbox is really facing problem about exclusives. I am a PS guy and it would need some real good games for me to switch side.

On a positive note, now that's out of the way - MS have more time for games at E3! I hope they smash it.

I did spam this thread but I see it is still here, perhaps someone else can also spam it.
As impressive as the Scorpio is, we don't need duplicate threads.

Is it really that impressive though? I think despite all the PR there will be very little difference between Pro and Scorpio enhanced games.

Even if the Scorpio is native 4k and PS4 Pro is upscaled, it's hard to tell the difference to any great extent when your playing the game.

PC will still be the place to play if you want the best possible fidelity. Scorpio will be £499 with Forza 7 packed in.

I have a gaming pc but i much prefer gaming on a console, cant say why but i just do. Not everyone wants a PC, the specs that have being shown today are extremely impressive in my eyes, and far more powerful than ps4 pro in every way. Obviously E3 needs to be showing fun new IP for the xbox brand as that is gonna be the only place xbox needs to strengthen, and i have full trust in MS.

They'd be mad to price it that high. It'll have to be sub £400.

Remember the PS4 was £425 at release. I don't recall anyone saying that was outrageous. That was just the price of the the latest console.

With performance apparently similar to that of the (£350) GTX 1070, tell me again how you'll get a 4k60 PC for sub-£500(hopefully).

You mean the pro? The ps4 was £350 at launch. It was the X1 that launched at £425, and look how that turned out...

Microsoft says it's "premium" so it will be priced accordingly. £499? Dream on.
#23
Any more than £399 is definitely leaving impulse buy territory for me, but this is a company who sell controllers for £100+, so £499 could happen...

Ah, well in the PS3's case there was plenty, PLENTY of outrage regarding the price. The machine never really recovered.

I could see MS bundling it with an Elite controller and Forza for £499, but base-console has to be under four hundred. The demo they're tracking don't have £500. I seriously doubt they have £400. Xbox is the perceived "leading" or "coolest" gaming brand for the post millennial demographic (Gen Z) but the oldest of them are only 17... Mum's and Dads aren't paying up 2-3 years after they bought the original unit. Your meat and potatoes 18-35 demo is going to meet this as they did the 'PS4 Pro'... Ambivalently.

1. Yes it really is that impressive it pounds the PS PRO into the ground in all areas

2. Try telling that to all the fanboys and the media who thought multi format 900p upscaled to 1080p wasn't good enough compared with 1080p, But now when Digital Foundry do multi format side by side tests the Scorpio will beat the Pro every time.

3. No one except MS knows how much it will cost but Phil Spencer will almost certainly announce the price in 8 weeks at the E3 show.

I'm not so sure. I can't see it being targeted at younger gamers, not whilst the Xbox one is still very much active. This is squarely aimed at those with disposable incomes, who have or plan to have 4K TVs and want the additionally graphical uplift that it offers. At least that is certainly where my 30-50 year old gaming collective is coming from. I've got a gaming PC, I've got all the current gen consoles. I've not bought a Pro because there's not enough difference to my PS4. The uplift to Scorpio is significant, and I plan to get an OLED TV to accompany it. Sure, I could use that money for a 1080ti beast rig, but my friends mostly play Xbox, I prefer gaming in a comfy chair, and I'm invested in the Microsoft ecosystem.

I'm not saying that what they're doing. But, that's how the demo's play out. Those are the numbers. The xbox install base skews younger. It's enthusiasts that are going to buy this thing, do you think there are enough of them to have warranted Microsoft's investment? I can't help but feel all this money should've been spent on quality first-party development. They just seem obsessed with trend-chasing and "community" building nonsense. It's very frustrating.

£500 for this seems fair enough and bundled with Forza too would be very good.

Few Sony fanboys seem to be upset about it though!

This is a PC alternative imo and I'd probs sell my PC for one of these as much prefer console gaming.
