when the scrappage deal ends are the government planning to do anything else? or will it be left in the hands of dealers?
looking to buy a new car in the new year, my current one is seven so i didnt benifit from the scrappage deal.

No, I think it was a one off.

The government wanted to get the car market going again, and wanted old cars off the road.

So as far as I know, its now in the hands of dealers.

It was another of browns brainwaves...
Rather than giving lots of local UK car engineers and local businesses repair jobs to keep the thousands of car engineers jobs going during a recession repairing cars that are still roadworthy.
Brown encouraged us to scrap perfectly good cars to buy foreign new cheap korean cars which will just increase our ridiculously high national debt even more.....

He should of made the scrappage scheme applicable to UK assembled cars, but as we have sold our soul to Europe, this was probably against the law due to EU competition rules or something.....

Hurry up Cameron and fix our broken country...

ha, never though of it like that. looking to get my partner a new car, shes a mobile hairdresser and our 2.0 307 sxi is costing her a fortune round the doors in fuel and we have had a run of bad luck with things going wrong so wanted to invest in a new car.
