Anyone else finding a decrease in the quality of service since Screenselect were taken over by Lovefilm or became Lovefilm?

Takes an extra 1 or 2 days to get a DVD back delivered and they are slower to acknowledge the receipt. I sent a DVD back Wed night, and its still not showing up as being returned.

They also annoy me by continuously stating that I should put up to 4 discs into an envelope? ** off, you increase the price of the rental, worsen the service, and you want me to hang around and maybe watch another film before I send the first one back. I deliberately sent my last 3 in separate envelopes.

I dont think I am far from sacking them off.

There was a post about this a few weeks ago, and I completely agree.
When the Sainsburys DVD rental scheme was swallowed up by Lovefilm the standards dropped dramatically. I also receive tons of junk off them, many a sly poke to send back films they want to ship out to other customers. I'm considering closing my account.

I have 40 films on my list and have only had 1 film this week 2 were dispatched on friday not arrived as yet the rest of the time it just said awaiting allocation

I cancelled with them cos the service had dropped to a very poor level, my list wasnt even new titles and it took ages to re-cycle.

Cancelled and much happier now,.... apart from the junk emails from them begging to return and be ripped off by them again.. Avoid Lovefilm.

A tip that may be useful. Can't guarantee it works, but it seems to for me.

I constantly alternate between Blockbusters online and Screen Select/Lovefilm.

Basically, I sign up for a month with one of them, then cancel, then sign up for a month with the other, then cancel, then sign up for a month with the other one etc.

What I noticed in the past, is that when you first sign with one of these services you tend to get lots of your high priority titles quickly during the first few weeks.
After that, the service seems to get gradually worse & worse.

I'm just guessing here, but as a new customer, I reckon they give you priority and try to impress you by sending you plenty of titles from the top of your list in the first few weeks.
After that, you seem to become a 'less important' customer.
You've been impressed by your first few weeks service and you keep subscribing for a while in the hope you'll get the same amount of top titles as you did when you first signed up.
When that doesn't happen, you may quit the service, but you've paid them for several months so they're happy.

Like I said, this is just a guess, but it would be typical of the way many business's work.
All I know is that constantly swapping from one company to the other, I've had a steady stream of titles from the top of my list and I've got no complaints really.

MorenoHatter, I've edited your post to remove the rude word you tried to get past the word filter. We've had increasing amounts of this on the forums, and we're trying to reduce it.

As to this lovefilm/screenselect issue, the lovefilm service is absolutley atrocious. When my current free trial runs out, I will never be paying them for their service again. I will be trying blockbuster, and probably staying with them.

So Blockbuster any good, or just marginally better than Lovefilm? I think I'll cancel right away, then they dont have to make the effort of sending me a new DVD when they finally acknowledge it.

Yeah, you have to call the 0870 to cancel.

Blockbuster's ervice is supposed to be exceptional.

lovefilm are garbage!
I've just cancelled my subscription with them because I wasn't getting any of the new films sent to me. I've been waiting for 2 months for Da Vinci Code!!!

Going to go back to blockbusters I think. They were loads better and you got the films you wanted.
We only went to lovefilm because they gave us 3months for the price of 1.(but still not good value!) lol

Exactly the same reason why I'm with them. I can't imagine paying the full price for this service.

It is an invitation for previous members to come back for free.I know their service is an utter joke,so get one over on them and get another 3 totally free monthsYou might only get a very limited service,but hey it's free.Join blocky at the same time for free and get a good service to run alongside lovefilms,and that way you should get a decent supply to keep you occupied.

There is a freephone number to be found at saynoto0870,can that not be used to cancel?
And yes Blockbuster are superb.If a title is available when they do their daily sweep,you will get it.They do not deliberately hold back sending discs out like lovefilm,and always acknowledge receiving your discs back when they arrive unlike lovefilm.Having said that,i have recently had to report 3 discs missing that i sent back to blocky,all at the same time,(which they immediately wrote off as lost in post).Then the 3 that i got after that i sent back and they haven't shown up yet,but i am giving them the benefit of the doubt and putting it down to the post at the time of year.

Lovefilm are awful! We started off on screenselect until they merged to lovefilm and I think the service standards have dropped hugely. Films take ages to arrive, they say we haven't sent stuff back that we have (and then realise days later that they were wrong) and the stuff that were getting sent seems to be lower priority stuff. I also hate the fact that they send pretty much everything in paper cases! The last dvd we got was pretty jumpy and I'm sure it was down to the case that it is sent around in being so flimsy.

I dont think we'll be sticking with them for much longer ... :pirate:
