I have a netbook with two SD card slots. Is it possible to make it not try to boot from the card if I leave it in the slot?

There is indeed.

When you turn on your laptop, you may notice a screen which says "Press F2 to enter Setup" (or something similar, maybe not F2 but F1 or F10 or something).

You need to turn you laptop on and immediately press the button which gets you into the "Setup" menu (known as BIOS screen).

From there, there will be a menu called "Boot" or something similar and from there you can find a priority list of devices to boot from. Just move the SD card option down the list below Hard Drive (which might be called SATA HDD or something else).

If your netbook is an Acer Aspire One, the button you need to tap straight after pressing the On button is F2
