Second Class Stamps

I've been told that if you put a second class stamp on an envelope and stick it on at an angle, then the Post Office machine will not recognise it as second class and send it first class instead.

It does seem to work!

Pretty much all letters get treated as 1st class in the festive season anyway.
They dont even have time to stamp the stamps!

You need to stamp your authority around the misc.

I was only trying to be frank!

It all gets treated the same anyway, the same as recorded is thrown in with all the first and second class too, recorded just means you get a signature (or not depending on your postie!)

This is not true, if the electronic system can't read the stamp due to the angle of the item then the item will be passed to a manual check process.
However as other people have stated, this is the time of 'good will' so you might be lucky... also consider the, currently out of strike, staff that may not care so much for their managers profits this year.

On a different note, how cheap are you to scam the Royal mail, tut tut

No way is this true. 2nd class quite often gets there the next day anyway so OP just got lucky.

Definite proof.
#17
not true, at xmas 2nd class postings go through the roof so sometimes they do a load the same day bumping it up to 1st, nothing to do with the angle of your stamp soz
#18
OP are you related to levis24?
#19
try it at a full 45 degree tilt see if it gets bumped to special delivery
#20
I doubt this'd work and don't have any second class stamps at the moment but I'll test it sometime and see what empirical data tells us :) xx

Well, I was given the heads up in this by someone who works at the Post Office, but obviously if you all know better.....

one of my good mates in an engineer at royal mail, its nonsense trust me , if the machine cant determine 100% what class the stamp is it spits it to manual, then it depends on the mood of sorting staff as to where they send it i imagine

Okay, we'll agree it's nonsense, but it seems to work.

Dont you think if this really worked, it would be common knowledge and everyone would be at it.

Who sticks stamps on accurately 100% of the time anyway :-D

I stuck mine on upside down and it arrived before I'd even posted it.

Upside down queens head stamp is the greatest disrespect to the monarchy and until the 1950's was considered treason although noone was ever hanged for it :whistling:
