Hello all. Recently our Peugeot has stopped working so need another car. I have around 1200 and ideally would like a car from around 01-02 and less than 75000 miles. I seem to find lots of rovers which Gittins criteria but don't know wether it is a good idea to buy a rover? Anyone got any ideas on what to get and what do ppl think about getting a rover.

Cheers

Head gaskets go on Rovers so if you go for one make sure it's already been done

Cheers for that.

Don't buy fiat or Renault in that price range. Keep it simple and buy vauxhall or a ford.

parts for rovers will be hard to find and expensive - ford, vauxhall, nissan & toyota are all good options

not sure why people **** off fiats so much on here. I bought a £800 W reg bravo about 5 years ago and lasted 3 years no probs. Bought a 53 plate Focus last year for 2k and its already gone wrong about 5 times. Its all about the history not just the make.

I've had 2 Rovers , the first was ok for the time but cost me a fortune in repairs, the second one was pretty a pretty awful diesel turbo only someone forgot to put the turbo part in I think, you needed to go into 1st gear to get up hills!

Currently have an '03 Chrylser Neon and out of the 9 cars I have owned it is easily the best, leather seats, cruise control, air conditioning, good mpg but also does 0-60 in around 9 seconds. It's really lovely to drive and only cost £995 from a garage. Passed it's first MOT with me without any problems whatsoever and since buying it 18 months ago I have not had to do any work on it at all.
Of all the cars I have driven and owned the American and Japanese ones far outweigh the European cars.
