Security Stopped me taking photos of products inside store!

Whilst i was browsing around Tesco today i took a few photos for this site and for my own visual notes and after about 10 mins a security guard walked up to me and warned me that if i took any more photos that he would escort me from the store!!! i was not given any reason for this! i spoke to the manager and she said it maybe for anti-fraud reasons but she was not 100% sure! but she asked for my contact details so that head office could contact me to give their reasons why! i will await eagerly for their reply! Any other HUKdealers had any similar experiences like this!

maybe they thought u worked for another supermarket. but its not like they would need to send someone in??

i did this in B&M bargains last week & got some funny looks!!

they probably thought you worked for another store. when I was a student the local iceland used to send their checkout monkeys round to the tesco I worked in all the time to check out our offers and hand out their leaflets in front of the store.

had the same experience in tesco, my wife had her best friend visiting from america and we were in tesco and she went to take a pic of something like pork faggots and security came and said stop or leave. manager said no pics in store

what a joke !

Most stores won't let you take photos its common practice.
#7
Well you could be a pervert for all they know, perhaps that's why?

A bit, maybe a lot, of info here

You could be taking pictures of what security devices they have and their positions, easy to shop lift if you know the cameras blind spots

Sounds like the most probable explanation to me. Have to say it wasn't the first thing I thought of though.. I was thinking more along the lines of shauneco lol

Just say your posting the picture as proof of cost online on a money saving forum and that it will get them more customers.
Would love to hear the come back from that ...
"no pictures, we don't like more customers round these parts"

loads of people on MSE take shelf photos to back up price information when they go for double the difference.
When working as a mystery shopper I've been asked to take photos re clean & tidy, nice display, well stocked shelves, no litter. Not in Tescos though. Idiots. If I was casing the joint for a burglary I'd use a hidden camera anyway.

I took a picture of a shelf sign in Morrisons the other day just because it was ridiculous - "Reduced to clear - was £12.25 Now £18"

i was refused taking photo of cd which looked as though it was £3.49 but was £13.49 - wouldnt give dd a refund - they did eventually - trading standards was mentioned ....

but if you really wanted to be awkward you can request security video of when you were in store - some might ask for payment - cant charge more than £10 plus they have to release it within 2 weeks-

I used to do this for market research years ago!

If it was 'hot' and we could not take images in the store, we would do it from outside where nothing could be done about it. Still had problems once, where some woman manager got most upset and called the police!
