Not sure of the answer, but I've just found a pair of my daughters jeans I bought from tesco yesterday, with the tag attached grr. I know the alarm didn't go off, great security!
If I can find the reciept I'm going to take them back, although tesco is quite a drive from me.

Umm may be best calling them so they expect you to come in with it on. Tesco did it to me twice, and the security guard has always checked my receipt.
Good thing about Next is they can tell its old seasons so its nothing you could steal from the store currently.
Hope they sort it for you x

Unless you know someone with a really really strong magnet?

I would just ring/email next to inform them of the situation, then go to store to get it taken off. You could always ask head office to ring the store in advance to let them know.
Freephone number for you 08007314567 :)

next is only up the road so might pop in first and leave the top in the car and see what they say, if they wont do it i will have a go at doing it myself.

Most of our local Next's have a greeter in the doorway trying to fob you off with something or other, maybe look to see if there is one and go straight to her so she sees you before you enter the store.

What sort of tag is it? Any markings on it? Shape? Colour? Some are easy to get off, some you need tools and some only the proper key (or a replica of) will do it.

if its last seasons clothes they will not have any issue removing the tag

Is the ones that connect with a metal pin?

Pair of tin snips could probably take it off. As said I wouldn't just walk in to the shop, i'd ring first.

They are highly unlikely to accuse OP of lifting the jeans as they are from the 2009 range so no longer available, and any shoplifter would know how to get the tags off at home.

Just don't take it back into them in your tin foil bag. :p

If it's one of the tags that hasn't got the dye stuff in you can get them off with a pair of pliers or a strong magnet :)

its a grey tag long on one side and circular on the other and looks like a pin goes through, i didnt pinch it lol because its under the hood i didnt notice it till yesterday when i was sorting my daughters clothes out for the next size up. i could leave it on as you cant see it when the hoods down but dont think it would be very comfortable for my little girl.

It won't be when you go out shopping and the alarms go off in every shop! haha :D

Sounds like one of the s3 tags, sometimes these can be prised apart by hand as they get re-used and worn loose, but easiest way is to get a pair of side cutters and put the head behind the pin and squeeze
