Too much light polution where I live.

When I was in Oz and no bright lights anywhere around, you could see satellites cross the sky quite frequently. Probably saw about 6 in about 90 mintes. Havent a clue which they were of course!

Deep Space Nine

Going to have a look tonight, thanks for that
#9
It will be visible every night for a week or more..

I use the Nasa site.. dead easy to use.. just select your closest town.. will then give a list for the next week.

Cheers.

It's the International Space Station.
I believe there are four people living on it at the moment and it is travelling round the earth at 17,500 M.P.H. which is slightly faster than my 7 seater people carrier. :w00t:

Oh no.
What is it with this posting.
Last night's posting attracted someone that posted rude picture and got banned.
And now this guy has posted on here and he too is now banned.
Do I take this personally. :w00t:

OMG! Thank u sooo much! we've just watched it go over our house with the kids - they (and us) were so impressed :) had it not been for your post we wouldn't have even known. I don't know if it was the same for others, but their seemed to be a satellite trailing along behind it too! Rep on it's way (won't forget, promise - have run out today!).

Bookmark the two site so that you can see it on your own.
Look out for when the space shuttle goes up. (That gets listed on the site that I posted.)
It is really cool to see the two of them glide across the sky in unison.

Wow,
I've been watching this thing on and off for years now.
I first started looking when the MIR space station was up there.
I never once thought to take a picture of it though.
I will now.
Thanks for this.

I hope you don't mind but I have put this photo and the link to the timetable on the thread I put up the day before.

Went out to have a look last night - don't know why we never thought to before. We were surprised at how quickly it moved and one of us thought we saw a satellite at the same time as well as ^^^.
Good idea to post, thanks.

It will be pretty much everywhere.
Use this link. It is more straight forward than the one I posted. Thanks to rockyfella for that.

Where are you.

saw it last night clearly; doesn't look so different from a plane's nightlight though so was a bit disappointed. hmmm...maybe it was a plane I saw!

You should be able to detect movement, but it wont appear to be moving fast - and definately no flashing lights that would give away an aircraft.

I hope you've all got your cameras on standby...
