Anyone else affected?

Soooo fed up!

Booked a weeks holiday with this company in July ....now follows two rainy wet months like only ayrshire can offer ... but there is always that ray of sunshine a week in sunny Tenerife! So now the bloody company has gone bust! I so just want/need to rant - been hotdealing, quidcoing, tesco vouchering for last 2 years so we can afford such luxuries! Seemingly we can apply to ABTA but who can risk booking before being refuded.

Anyway more to the point useful advice from Engadine in MSE for others effected:

There is more advice on CAA website for anyone effected http://www.caa.co.uk/default.aspx?catid=27

If you have booked to travel with Seguro you should submit a claim for that is available on the CAA website. http://www.caa.co.uk/docs/1052/seguro.pdf

Did you pay with a credit card? I only ask as this happened to us in 2004 when we booked a holiday to Florida on the net. Luckily my other half paid on his credit card and the credit card company refunded the money.

We paid by Visa Debit card. Not sure where we stand with this one. Advice from MSE says that visa debit cards offer the same protection as visa credit cards however when I phoned our bank (bank of scotland) they said we have no protection at all. Personally I don't know enough about it to argue so any facts/figures would be really appreciated!

look into visa charge back, its on BBC news website. Sorry can't post link as I'm on my iPod! Its under visa debit card refunds. Might be worth ringing the bank of scotland back with this find!

This site? Looks like debit should be covered. Think will go have tantrum in bank so wish I was someone that could put forward my case without the tantrum ;-)

GGGRRRRRRR!! More I think about it more fed up I get! Spent weeks looking for the best package! Thought I was great when I managed to get it 100 pounds cheaper :-(

On computer now! Might be worth printing off this page - http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/programmes/working_lunch/7593369.stm and taking it in to the bank with you. Its a real pain when these things happen:-(

Travelcity and XL airlines go down too now!

Went to the bank and they filled out a chargeback for the transaction also looks like we can claim our money back via ATOL. So all is not lost I guess but still I was soo looking forward to a touch of sunshine!

Anyway for anyone else who wants a backup to their ATOL claim and paid via VISA Debit card it can be done!

Another useful link via ManAtHome on another thread in MSE

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/programme...ch/7347146.stm

I phoned up bank of scotland (=Halifax) twice and got told twice that they could not do a chargeback for the transaction as it is for fraud and receipt of damaged goods. Not to take no for an answer - stubborn little imp I printed some links out and took it into the bank who filled out the chargeback form. The bank staff were sooo nice and looked up an email telling them how to deal with chargeback and zoom airlines and followed the same procedure for me with Seguro (went bust 10 Sept). Don't take no for an answer!

Yeah they do as long as the amount is over £100, but I think you find as long as its a package holiday you are fully covered under ABTA
