Yes, but wait for money to clear, add extra for postage etc.
see if he bids normally and confirms paypal address etc

he has been registerd on ebay since 04 in portugal....and my listing is buy it now...he offered pretty much the same price as its listed at....

u think i should ask him to send directly into paypal via gift to protect myself??? or will that not protect me?

Don't do that either, even if you post recorded delivery it only tracks within the UK, the winner will then claim through paypal they havent recieved and you'll have a nightmare with royal mail (in my case 6 months) to recover the costs.

You can add another £4 to the postage for 'Airsure' which tracks it right to the delivery address and is trackable online at the Royal Mail site. I have posted many times to Portugal with no problems but I realise selling mobile phones are in a different league.

Wait for his paypal payment then log into your paypal account when payment has been received. Make sure you only send it Royal Mail International Signed For and assuming it says 'ok to post' in your paypal account then sending this way will cover you incase there is anything wrong. Just because he is based abroad does not mean he is a fraud. Under paypals new seller protection policy, as long as it says 'ok to post' when you view the transaction in your account, you are covered if the buyer turns out to be fraudulent. I know this as Ive had a successful claim from a fraudulent chargeback and know what paypal used to be like when it came to this sort of thing.
For added peace of mind check out his bidding history on ebay-if he has bought several high priced items all of a sudden then something might not be right, either way though you will still be covered with regards to paypal

merlin how do i check his bidding history? he has only 2 feedback but hes been registered since 04...

also if i get him to pay in with paypal gift option, would that mean extra cover or less?

Wouldn't bother mate, far too much hassle and risk associated with it. Mobile phones have a habit of going 'missing' when sold through eBay. Just wait, im sure you will get an offer from someone else?

Click 'advanced search' top middle of front page right next to the normal search box, then on next page click 'by bidder' on the left hand side, type in his user id and you will then see what he has bidded on in the past 15 days, if anything.
Again though I really wouldnt just refuse to sell to him as its too much hassle as said elsewhere. Just make sure its fully insured and tracked with Royal Mail if they lose it, you get your money back. Other than that make sure your covered with paypal (log in and if it says ok to post then if anything comes back in form of chargeback etc then you will be covered.
It will say the following:

We recommend that you:

* Post to the buyer's address listed on this page.
* Post the item using an approved carrier.
* Save your tracking information and other proofs of postage
