Yeah ridiculous, but if there's a market for it someone will exploit people not in the know.

He is taken the ****?? £69 for a android box fully loaded , you can purchase them below £20 on some deals, he is ripping people off to start with

When's it likely to be banned?

I also thought the same, isn't this a good thing to stop those rip off merchants? It's unlikely they're probably paying tax either with the dodgy ebayers

Good. Completely pointless buying a box pre-loaded. This will help protect the stupid.

If you can't follow a simple tutorial on how to install Kodi, what are you going to do when an add on goes down or you want to install a new one? You will be back to square one again.

Just take some time to learn, it honestly doesn't take long to get the hang of it.

It really is no different to the old method of selling copied discs at a car boot sale, so whatever law applied then should be the same now.
I wouldn't be too fussed about whether customers are getting ripped off - they're aware of the price and choose to buy it.
I'd be more concerned that people still choose risk over reward when it comes to making a living.

All this means for me is that I would get pestered by mates to set sticks up for them instead of them paying some fat bloke on eBay to do it. FML.

You would be a pretty bad friend if you didn't offer to do it for free (_;)

Since people know I know how to set up kodi with goodies, I've done it for a few people.

I think back to the days I was a complete kodi noob. But like you guys said, not difficult to learn as they are some very helpful people out there.

maybe you'd like to retract your slanderous comments against someone whose business accounts are available on the companies house site

actually its completely different.

streaming was deemed to be legal by the European court of justice, because a cached copy of say a film wasn't deemed to be in breach of copyright law.

its only very recently that another court has ruled that linking to copyrighted material is in breach of copyright rules, which has lead to this case being possible.

No need to get heated up darling, unless the accounts have been audited I could not care less because you can write whatever figures you want in the returns without any sort of verification.

Don't jinx it, there's some pretty technologically inept people out there making our laws.

You will never be able to ban an android box on the basis it can run kodi. Pretty much any device you can think of could run kodi. PS4,xbox,I-pad etc etc..

I don't mean it's available now. It would require major porting undertaking and you can run Linux Kernel on a PS4 so it's very possible. My point is, if there is a demand to be met, someone will meet it.

Android boxes won't be banned anyway.

You could. Not sure how you could really enforce it though with services such as VPN.

Not being able to enforce things doesn't seem to stop them trying to implement crazy laws.

It's a bit like pirate bay isn't it? They blocked that, now there's millions of them. Didn't stop them trying.

Nintendo managed to get Flashcarts made illegal to sell in the UK. can imagine the movie industry could do something similar with purpose built boxes, but that would be like making Raspberry Pi or similar illegal.

Not really, the person buying the service isn't getting prosecuted, it's always the person selling the service. So the streaming aspect is null and void. Same with CS / IPTV
Just because installing an app is easier than decoding on the fly then streaming out, doesn't mean that they're distinguishable.

I'm not against it by the way, I'm one of the worst offenders! I am an end user though, not a business

They would have to ban mobile phones laptops & tablets as they can all run kodi.

This is local to me, technically if he is selling the plain software on a box then he is doing nothing wrong, if a customer goes home and installs naughty software thats their doing.

If I sold you a family car and you then used it in a bank robbery would that be my fault?
#34
Downloaded Kodi once and set it up, tons of pornography streaming on Kodi making up the majority of channels once I blocked them to make it "family friendly", then realised Plex has more or less the same stuff as all the unblocked channels remaining so got rid of Kodi.

He is selling ''fully-loaded Kodi boxes with third-party add-ons that provide access to pirated copies of films and TV series, or provide free access to subscription television channels.''

From a local "newspaper" if you could call it that. Thing I have never understood with Kodi et al is that it must be logged by your service provider what you're accessing etc. The old boxes would just pluck the singel out the air and decode it.

I'm afraid Kodi etc has just past me by.

In a different article it mentions that during the 18 month investigation, he was found to be selling the boxes pre-loaded. I'm assuming they sent some people in to purchase them and have recorder their findings.

strange I could buy my mummy a box of cigarettes or a bottle of plonk that would cause her harm without issue.
