I have a mobile phone for sale on ebay and I have been contacted by someone in Ukraine asking if I would sell to them if they paid via paypal. I have checked the feedback and they have 45, all positive, all as a buyer. What are the risks?
Thanks

Don`t Do It, once royal mail post leave U.K. there is no way to track it, not sure on other countries but more trouble than its worth, you might as well just send him the phone for free

The risks are that it is highly unlikely you will be able to prove that they received the phone (one of the rules of ebay, proof of delivery). Then they may open a dispute leaving you out of pocket and out of a phone too.

But if they have already paid via pay pal and I have proof that I posted it then I thought I would be covered?

It's not proof of postage that ebay require it's proof of delivery. If you have proof of postage you maybe able to claim from the Royal Mail but as above it just isn't worth the hassle.

Ahh, I didn't realise it was "proof of delivery" that is needed - I think I'll say no. Thanks for the help.

Don't do it. I sold mine to someone in India who then claimed he never received the phone. Paypal then took his side and debited the money he had paid me out of my paypal account. I proved that he had done this to 5 different sellers but paypal still took his side

you take ukraine, I'll take italy, all we need now is someone to take care of those Nigerian princes

The people over at 419eater.com are already on that. Some funny case studies on there of people stringing along Nigerian scammers..
