I wonder if anyone can help me ,
I put my hp notebook on gumtree and was offered the asking price within 30mins , which I thought was great until the person I was going to sell it to was saying it is for a shop in Nigeria and was asking for my pay pal account is this for real or does this sound suspicous ? .
Can they hack my account while in Nigeria .....
Any help would be grateful ...

Thanks

OP give me your money and I will double it - promise

I will email u confirmation so you know I am telling the truth
- bossyboots

is this new **fashion**,that rather then posting in thread we have to add our comments in the OP Description?

Con artist is Nigeria's number 1 occupation.

He'd be better off doing that than sending it to Mr Nigeria!

The best way to avoid such occurence in my Opion on Gum tree is never use your email as Contact, I prefer to put my Mobile as as I believe any serious buyer will prefer to contact you via text of Phone call rather by Email. Thats my Experience anyway. It helps thin down the Non Serious Buyers especially the Cons from Nigeria..

They are a country full of liars, scammers, and thieves. Nothing to do with the colour of their skin.

<<awaiting thread from RFC containing the words:

"I've just paid some guy in Nigeria £20,000 and he promised to send me £10,000,000. I haven't heard from him in 3 months What can I do???"

I concur never use email on gumtree, I never answer any of them no matter how they sound....if they want to buy on a local website then they should call you.

I genuinely feel sorry for the good and decent people of that country.

Doesn’t change the fact though that Laptop to Nigeria = No

Too high risk

In my ads I always put "If this ad is still here, then the item is still available".

Scammers 99% of the time will e-mail "Do you still have this item available"? even after you have said it is.
The 2nd e-mail will ask you to ship it, they rarely ask in the 1st e-mail.

I have sold many things to people that contact me by e-mail.
